Tmark Grand Hotel Myeongdong but is actually not located at myeongdong. Its located near hoehyeon station which is just 1 stop away, and near to namdaemun market. Reason being it was quieter as compared to staying in busy myeongdong. About a 15 mins walk nia, will passby 1 convenience stall and about 5-6 restaurants. There is a family-run restaurant near the convenience stall which serves good food, like it a lot.

How was the experience like? Did you encounter any problems with air-conditioning in the room? Saw in reviews many people complained that the air-con not cold enough and sometimes they will turn it off in the middle of the night.

For Seoul Hotel, is there other cheaper hotel beside Skypark? How about Koreana, Hotel Mido,Hotel PJ or Philstay Myeongdong ? Have anyone try....

You are saying the Hotel Skypark quad room allows 3A2C? As I understand from their website it can only accommodates 4 pax

I need some recommendations for a hotel to stay in Busan. I have no specific plans yet...

Requirements:

1. Near train station, preferably, less than 500m away from the train station because Google Maps of South Korea is quite jialat and I'm direction blind

2. Decent water heating system, because I'm going in winter, I don't want to waste water by letting it run till it heats up

3. Unregulated air conditioning system. I don't know, in winter, it seems like they turn up the heater until it's too warm to sleep well. And mostly cannot adjust one. :frus::vijayadmin::s22:

Budget: $150 or less, $100 or less is best :o

Date range: 7 - 11 February 2020

Considering this hotel also. Would appreciate some reviews.
Very late reply but L7 Hongdae is very nice.
The location is fantastic.
Near subway and also have airport bus outside.
Can also take arex train from icn Airport but it is further than the bus. Need to walk more underground as the train n subway stations are connected.
They have self serve laundry too.
The shops and restaurants are all nearby.
lobby has a fantastic view as well !
My go to hotel in Seoul actually.

The only thing I don't like about L7 hongdae is if u get the lower floor facing the street. Super noisy n impossible to sleep.
Ask for high floor facing street or facing away from street.

If looking at Hongdae, some of the good options (my opinion)

[Holiday Inn Express Hongdae] - the rooms are quite small, but very clean. Comes with free breakfast which is really simple, but decent and nothing to complain about. Location is good. Near the stop for the airport express and located at the intersection of Hongdae and yeonnam (one of the current hotspots of Seoul). But the pricing is quite strange at times, I will say if it’s less than a 100k krw, it’s a good price.

[L7 Hongdae] - the lounge at 21st level is cool. Nice place to relax and enjoy the view. The bar at the top is also good, though the drinks price are a little expensive for a 4 star hotel. The swimming pool is really famous, but closed for winter. Room wise is larger and nicer than holiday inn express, but like above, can get quite noisy on lower levels. Love their malin goetz toiletries too. Do note that L7 does not have room service. Location wise, right beside Hongdae station, about 5-10 mins walk to yeonnam. About 10mins walk from Hongdae airport line.

[Ryse] Much more expensive than the rest. But much fancier lol. Breakfast is ala carte though. Very design centric and gym is quite nice. Rooftop bar is good but a little expensive. Has a bakery Tartine on the first level which is one of my favourite bakery in Seoul. Room service available. Abit further than L7 from Hongdae station, but not by much (1-2mins?). But that also means it’s closer to the neighbourhood of Sangsu (10mins walk) which is another new hotspot in Seoul with all kinds of cafes and restaurant - if that is your thing.

[Mercure Hongdae] - Very new hotel and quite design centric. Opposite L7, so in terms of location it’s the same. Rooms quite standard though they have the amazing junior suite rooms which has an open air bathtub, quite cool. But I think that room is pretty exp - around 300k krw. Overall, unless u book junior suite room, or have Accor membership for breakfast, I think I will prefer L7, considering their price is around the same.

Haven't been in a while but people here said myeongdong is half of what it was.
Not as lively n not as many food stalls as before.

Myeongdong is quite central though n easy to get around.

I prefer Hongdae area for liveliness
