For me,
1. I listen to music everyday. It calms the mind and brings me to another world instantly.

2. Do not compare with more successful people.

3. Keeping my thoughts - all the time - on positive things, e.g. plan where to eat, find a thing that is going well to indulge in, like playing Pickleball etc

4. Long term, embracing a religion and knowing my purpose in life.

The mind is the BIGGEST enemy. Usually the circumstance is not that dire. Just that our minds make us think it is.
Right hand.

I used to suffer from depression in my 20s and I paid a heavy price for that, it cost my family a lot of money, my future career and most of all my time. Never again I told myself.

Regular exercise - I cannot remember how many times regular exercise has made me feel so much more refreshed both physically and mentally. Do at your own pace, own time, own target.

Doing things I want to do - spending time with my wife is a given; but we're very different people with very different interests so I take time out to do my own things, pursue my own hobbies alone. Me taking care of myself is a top priority cos if I can't look after myself, no way will I be able to look after my wife either.

Stay away from social media, or at least FB, Insta etc... anything where people post about how great their life is with all the lavish things they buy, the cars, the houses, the holidays etc... I only keep my FB to keep in touch with my older relatives. Insta? To scroll reels and look at chio bu. Twitter to keep up-to-date with stuff.

Eat properly. I believe that nutrition and a balanced diet is very important; we're not plants so we can't make our own food. Not saying to stuff your face with McDelivery at 1am but yeah, if you enjoying eating something go for it. But everything in moderation.

No toxic people. One almost ruined my life, thank god I woke up just in time.

All I can think of right now off the top of my head.

Manage your own expectations on your life.

Once you are self aware of your own life and needs, you will be a happy person.

Why ppl are unhappy? Coz they are chasing after their expectations. Their expectations are not fulfilled yet. That's why they get angry, impatient and sad.

Readjust your expectations and needs. You will come realise that you are happier with lower expectations that are achievable.

Always remember this. Everything become fake when you are dead in the coffin.

This is not a very actionable item. You need to decode it step by step
Of course. Everyone is also different. Have different priorities in life. Dependants. No dependants. Obligations and responsibilities. Values. Desires. Goals. Ambitions. Hobbies. Passions.

Is very very complicated.

But those happy are rich in what they want and is important to them.

Rich in their minds. Riches can be many things not just money.

Yes. Happiness is a state of mind. Internal.

But happiness isn't necessarily good for progress. Improving. Growing. Exceling.

So there are pros and cons of being always happy purely by managing expectations.

But yes the topic is how to be happy.
