i tried to make my sd card gold card using this
but when tried to patch mmc
it failed
"an error occurred object reference not set to an instance of an object" came out

and how do i check if my sd card is an gold card?

Most probably because your software version is not 1.31.xxxx, last time I faced same problem and it was fine after I downgraded to 1.31 (mine was 2.05.xxx). Try the downgrade step by step (make the goldcard with goldcard tool) and it should be ok

Most importantly do not be disheartened with few trials and errors

Did you try to power down the phone? Then start again. Connect to PC after you see the red exflaimation.

there's a way to do it. get a soft root, install titanium backup, backup everything, then root, flash ROM, then use your backup to put back all apps and settings

What "fatthumb" said is correct, do not give up trying to root just because of few trial & error.......

i spent total 4 hours to root my phone, after failing to root about 4 to 5 times, due to tutorial guide explanation not clear (in xda forum, Legend zone)

i agree with foosoomin... it can be done... just need to take time and patience... i too take many hours to get it.... look out for errors and google it...there will be solutions...

You need to install HTC sync in order to get the driver (phone must be recognized as HTC not Android 1.0). Afterwards you can uninstall HTC sync and leave the driver (in start menu there will be 2 new folder created, one is driver another one is HTC sync program).

I have forgotten the steps but somewhere in the middle I can only progress once HTC sync is uninstalled. I repeat again, do not uninstall/delete the HTC driver!
