why people compare Legend and Desire as if they are sold exactly at the same price and launched exactly on the same day in Singapore and targeting exactly the same target audience? lol

in the real world, people have different budget for their handphones and some prefer pocketability (got such word? ) so would like a 3.2" rather than bigger screen phone.

Desire lovers can spend more time contributing to the HTC Desire thread rather than wasting their time here.

regarding short battery life, this is a problem/issue with ALL smartphones. if battery life is a very important consideration, than one should NOT be considering a smartphone *now* in the first place. it is like expecting ipad to run as long as a kindle.

also, what is considered long battery life for a smartphone is very very subjective.

contrary to what you're saying, currently my E52 lasts 4 days even with heavy WiFi

Given that it's smaller, yes it should consume less power. But I do expect my battery to at least last me a full day without me having to charge halfway. Current reviews have the same sentiments, go google around for it....

I like the legend rather than the desire, but if battery is an issue I might be turning away from the legend...

The Legend is the replacement model for Hero. I believe one telco in US has named the Legend as Hero 2.

You have understand one thing though... Depending on what apps you install and what does the app do.. contribute to battery drain.

An app call lucid messaging.. I installed that and guess what? I faced a battery drain of 35% between 7am to 9am and that not doing anything with my phone. I removed that app and my typical battery usage drop by 5% between that time.

Well if you read around Starhub's Facebook page, they seems to say that they are lauching the Legend and HD mini in April also and Desire in May after many people asking. So I guess M1 will temporarily have a slightly earlier edge.
