paiseh bo read carefully. why dont use?

Because you should not be the one "force closing" processes. That is abnormal behaviour.

People set alarms, use task killers, kill the clock process happily and have no idea why the alarms don't ring. Half-baked knowledge is very dangerous, indeed.

i've set it to do auto killing..
as in, to kill off all 3rd party running apps when the screen locks. :(

When your screen is locked with no active task like music/radio, all processes are in sleep state. Battery used by them? Zilch.

sorry, i actually dun understand how the linux core works but. from a general POV.
how about those that are suppose to pull updates from the
net? twitter apps for eg. since they are asleep how am i suppose to get updates?
email notifications ??

one thing is.
not all apps comes with the exit option.
there are times where we'd like to use an app. and close it for good after using.

Timers. System events. Broadcast events. Android core is responsible for waking up relevant processes when activities happen. Processes that are active now will do their job (push a notification, blink the LED, wake the screen up if it is a call) and go back to sleep again when they aren't needed.

How do you define "closing things for good"? And first of all, why do you need to kill the process and remove it from cached area? There is no benefit from doing that. When you retain processes in cache, they are ready to be used when needed. If you need them to exit, it is instantaneous.

No prob. If you need to do some manual killing occasionally, ASTRO is more than sufficient.

Sorry for being a noob but what is ASTRO? Do I need to download it from android market?

ASTRO is a file browsing app. It has some tools inside to install/uninstall apk files and to kill processes.

ouch, i'm using linda arrrgh lol
nvm its got a task manager too :)

ASTRO and Linda are about the same. Just use the one you like.

There is one more called ES File Explorer. It is a pure file browser though. It can connect to windows (SMB) shares.

According to the manual, we can edit the User Dictionary through the onscreen keyboard, but I can't find it. Is it missing from our region?

How to delete words that I accidentally saved?

frm htc site

Editing or deleting a word in the user dictionary

You can edit or remove words that you previously added to the predictive text dictionary.

1. On the onscreen keyboard, tap
17si29.png
.
2. Tap User Dictionary.
* To edit a word, tap the word itself.
* To delete a word, tap the X icon to the right of the word

Saw this before I came here, except that when I tap on the button, it would switch to Chinese, or if I long-press it, I would bring up a menu that doesn't have any option to enter the Dictionary.

after a little search.
it seems ..

menu > settings > applications > manage applications > touch input > clear data.

works
This will clear all, no option to select

@ ur own risk :S

Edit:

alright got this app
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.usr.dict.mgr

That has one big "Delete" button, but doesn't say what it deletes, lol. The "Export" doesn't work as well.

This method is safer I think, at least its by HTC. Unless they offer a method that let users to screw themselves up.

I have the same problem, except in reverse, with an app in the foreground, and wanting to change the media volume, it changes ringtone volume instead.

what i did was, reset the phone to factory setting, since all the apps u dl are saved under the 'dl' inside market, just dl them back after reset. now the problem is solved, and i got the problem you are facing now. but only for 1 game app. weird problem eh?

anyway, i sync all my fb contacts to the phone, now all the fb contacts appeared when i go in 'phone', is there a way to unsync those contacts from fb?
