Sold off.

Need to max all the way the viewable. That's the character of sLCD.

Sent from Huawei Mate 10 Pro #RoseGold using GAGT

No leh, my U11 also lcd, but is super bright, similar to p10 series. I think is they use a dimmer panel on the U11+, as per gsmarena's review of the U11+

That's explained. Anyway it's personal preference.

Any bros also find it un-usable under sunlight?

For me it's perfectly usable. The darker blacks, and more accurate color reproduction more than makes up for it. Together with the bigger battery, screen and sound, very happy with it.

The camera has been tweaked too, and it's better than the U11 in my opinion. With the gCam port, it's quite a good package.

It's more of a personal preference thingy. Also, if you happen to be someone with high photosensitivity (especially for people suffering from Astigmatism), chances are you may be more tolerant of lower brightness screens, and hence displays like OLED which reproduces colours on the brighter side of things may not appeal that much to such people.
I personally have yet to test the U11+ sLCD6 display under noon sunlight so I can't determine if the display can cope against high amounts of ambient light, but using it under white fluorescent light is still visibly clear to my eyes even at 40% brightness, and that is without any screen protectors that tends to "brighten" the display levels higher than it usually is configured to see.

User-intuitiveness wise, the SenseUI has been made pretty useful, with the Edge Launcher and all, just that quite a number of customization controls need to be tweaked a little further given the powerful customization abilities the U11+ is already built to have in the hardware level. Maybe I should consider getting more options (Launchers and Keyboards) to get the right fit that I can use.

Btw, I only got my hands on a Ceramic Black U11+ just yesterday (as a belated Bday gift) so I could only spend limited amount of time on it. Things I like about the device is more on the things it comes with (USonic Headphones in particular, really did as good of a job on the audio front as advertised even with using customized earbuds, which I was afraid would have issues with the customization process initially. Clear Casing is a welcome addition given the slipperiness of the liquid surface body, coupled with a HTC-branded soft cleaning cloth. All I can say about the things that come with it? Not a must have but a good-to-have kind of accessories.). And if you decide to use Launchers other than the Sense Home UI, it will work with your Edge Sense functions like it would with Sense Home so there's no worries on that front.
Aesthetics-wise it's quite a feat to have a 6-inch display built into a phone that's narrower than the 5.5-inch phone I used to have, and likely to be a design mainstream in the foreseeable future. But for the crazy-about-customization person, the SenseUI in the U11+ may not be sufficient to satisfy that kind of obsession, but thanks to the hardware, battery as well as the system allowance to stomach any kind of customization you can throw at the U11+ it definitely can still have plenty to appeal to non-conformist users of smart technology.

Just a side note: Of all the Made-In-Taiwan goodness, there is only one thing inside the U11+ box that is Made In China - The Charger Plug (made by Dongguan Aohai Power Technology in Guangzhou Province). So the issue of too much "paranoia" isn't that significant to warrant concern for the time being. And unlikely in the foreseeable future.

thanks for the quick review was contemplating to buy due to the dimness of the LCD screen just a question can you configure the mobile to run at a lower resolution if needed?

Guys,

I am not sure if this is a bug in the camera.
There was an update yesterday in the HTC Camera App.

Can someone try and confirm this?

When you autofocus more than a couple of times manually by clicking on the screen, after a while, the manual autofocus just does not work.
I have to quit the camera app and start again in order for the manual focus to work.

To make it clear, when you press anywhere on the screen to manually focus and do it a few times, suddenly you cannot manual focus anymore after maybe 6-7 tries. Then gotta restart the app and then it works again. Not sure if it is a safety feature or it is a bug.

Thanks Guys!

Mine too, no issue.

Tried using Instagram and can manual focus as many times with no issues. Stock camera app manual focus after 6th time, it doesn't work. Looks like maybe the camera app is bugged. At least I know it isn't hardware.

There is a bug in the sw. Don't enable the battery saving mode. In the past this mode is supposed to be on at a battery level you select (eg. 15%,20%...etc). Now once the button is selected, the phone goes immediately to battery save mode, the screen is too dim. With the mode un-selected, the phone will still go on the battery level you click on. Sounds confusing, I hope everyone can understand.

hmm.. I don't have this issue. The battery saving will only kick in at 15%.

But I did notice shorter battery life after an updating to the latest software update (mine is the Taiwan version 1.23.709.3). If you all noticed that the system standby is taking up a lot of power, go to App Info -> show system apps -> find HTC Function Test -> click on battery -> turn on the restrict background activity.

This app alone took up like 30% of my battery usage, and I don't even know what it does.

Oh, please get a screen protector, I used it naked for a week and I kanna scratches on my screen already.. damn heartpain

Not sure what you meant, but it seems that it can make individual apps optimize their app resolution while running on the U11+, especially when those apps are not configured to run in a 18:9 aspect ratio, which is a feature under the Boost+ app's Power Optimizer Function, being able to select between 'Foreground Optimizer' (which adjusts resolution to not only fit the 18:9 screen but also helps save a little bit of battery juice while at it, applies to all installed apps) and 'Background Optimizer' (which closes apps automatically after a certain period of inactivity saving more power, but not all user apps are supported).
