There are pros and cons with the double tap on the screen. I personally liked it when I was using a G4 back then. However to implement this feature, the screen needs to be somewhat in an active state to sense the double tap. As a result, there is an impact to battery life.Why do u need LG to hv this feature? You just need to add/change a line in build.prop to have this enabled (this need root tho). So it is up to Huawei if they want to give you this feature,since it's already there but not implemented in the UI.
The best will be to have the finger print reader in the front, so no need for all these gimmicky methods to switch on the screen. But with all the phone makers in a race to increase screen to body size ratio, unless someone manages to have a breakthrough integrating the finger print reader into the screen itself, the rear reader is likely the way forward in the near future.
