Why do u need LG to hv this feature? You just need to add/change a line in build.prop to have this enabled (this need root tho). So it is up to Huawei if they want to give you this feature,since it's already there but not implemented in the UI.

There are pros and cons with the double tap on the screen. I personally liked it when I was using a G4 back then. However to implement this feature, the screen needs to be somewhat in an active state to sense the double tap. As a result, there is an impact to battery life.

The best will be to have the finger print reader in the front, so no need for all these gimmicky methods to switch on the screen. But with all the phone makers in a race to increase screen to body size ratio, unless someone manages to have a breakthrough integrating the finger print reader into the screen itself, the rear reader is likely the way forward in the near future.

Everyone will implement front face recognition methods on their phones moving forward. Flood illuminators will be the next big thing after fingerprint sensors.

so, would like to share some apps which i had been using.
since 2014, i had been using the oppo find 7a.
it does have double tap to wake and sleep. very handy especially if do not want to press the hard button.

i am using the SCREEN OFF AND LOCK apps to lock and off the screen.
this is free apps.

for normal launcher, you can set the apps on the status bar and pull down and activate it to lock.

for nova launcher, you can set to double tap to lock under the "gestures & inputs".

for this mate 10, not sure how to use the thumb scanner to unlock the screen ?
i have setup scanning correctly, but whenever i scan my thumb, it always go to pin number screen instead of unlock and enter the phone.

Hi. I am new to the Huawei family. Just bought a Mate 10 pro. It's a great phone. The only issue I have is no notifications at lock screen (black screen). When I receive yahoo mail, Gmail or whatsapp, I don't get notifications except for vibration and led lights. Doesn't the Mate 10 pro have the respective app icons at lock screen?

used to use the "NOLED" apps.
now still using it. it is free apps.

you need to set the apps that you want to monitor.

example when whatapps message is in, it will flash the icon on the screen until you read the message.

Screen off and lock no longer works since Marshmallow or Nougat. It will go to pin screen automatically. Was like that for my Note 5 and S7E before. This is due to Android changes. Thus you have Nova launcher using a 'delay' off to so call off the screen. But I often accidentally trigger the screen again before I can place the phone in my pocket... so it can be hit and misd

It is becos you are using a 3rd party app to lock screen and Android security has disabled direct widget unlock since lollipop iirc

Stock Huawei launcher has a widget to lock screen that won't trigger the pin/pattern but it only works on stock launcher so if you use 3rd party launcher like Nova, you should use the timeout method as that adhere to Android security feature and won't get pin/pattern when unlock. It works on most situation as screen is put into a soft sleep mode but can get easily interrupted if you touch it.

While that is true, I believe it was LG that made the concept popular. Nokia in their late "smart phone" offering did not really gain a lot of popularity since people are flocking to iOS and Android devices then.

I suspect they would have removed it because of the implementation of finger print readers then. Considering that a single press of the finger print reader/ home button, and you can get the phone to wake up and complete the security check, it will make no sense for double tap to wake and separately input passcode/ pattern.

Before LG introduce that, there is already Andiord application doing that function. What LG do is make that as part of Andriod services. Otherwise, you will see LG patented this feature.

Yes.. I use to have this app (Noled) as well. My 1st android phone. Galaxy S.

Now Install this to my in laws phone as their phone does not have LED.

Well. Back to the dttw. Finally gotten used to it from LG V10..
Use to lock my phone

If need to unlock, just pickup phone and phone auto unlock as thumb is already auto place at fingerprint sensor....
