There are many articles raving about P20 pro. Here's one:

The main item to me is the night mode. It's coming to Mate 10 series too. AIS also will be coming in Oreo 8.1.
I also playing camera so if I need particular shot, I will grab it on camera instead. It's not going to make me give up my camera by any mean but rather just let me have more opportunity to capture a photo on the go. Just say something like wide angle. On phone, no matter what you do, the best is add adaptor then it becomes super wide or fish eye but the quality drop is normally awful. On camera I can just switch lens and get a nicely done wide angle photo.
Then for some people you might find the 3x zoom nice. But Huawei did make some compromise there. The 40MP RGB and 20MP monochrome sensors both no OIS. Only the 3x 8mp sensor got OIS.
To me, I would not upgrade now la. Rather wait for Mate 20. Unless the mate 20 got announced without the tri-camera setup la haha.
P20 Pro also lacking some latest tech like Bluetooth 5.0 then soon to be 5G capability.
But of course it's personal thing la. Decision is yours!
For me if not no choice must get new phone to replace my broken one, I wouldn't buy a phone now haha. Snapdragon 855 is going to debut in phone in about 6 month time and that marks the entry into 5G era. I'll just stay with Mate 10 till next major upgrade - 5G, LPDDR5, Bluetooth 5.0 etc etc.
