Huawei Mate 20

Just got the Mate 20 (non-pro version).

Is anyone here not a fan of EMUI or is it just me? Kinda irritated by some of the quirks in the UI, especially after coming from Samsung’s One UI and Xiaomi’s MIUI.

E.g. at the home page, when I swipe down from anywhere on my wallpaper, it triggers their “Hisearch” and I can’t disable it.

When I press on the home button, it just brings me BACK to the previous page instead of the Home Button.

These are minor UI quirks, but still quirks nonetheless. I must say the other aspects of the phone is awesome.

Try nova launcher from play store. Never encounter these issues because I've been using nova since day 1 lol.

Need to copy?
I just click in the empty box to show up the keyboard, then extend the sms notification bar by pulling down. And keying in the OTP. the sms won't disappear till you mark as read or swipe away.

Did u guys have a problem with late notification? When u on the screen they going pop up randomly like crazy.. sometimes chat also delay until u turn on the screen

The only real benefit is the headphone jack lol. Mate 20 Pro is similar/better in everything else.

I tried your method, it doesnt work. Maybe i did not do it correctly.

Copying is just faster.
Google ROM able to detect OTP code has been sent to you so when you received the message, your notification will have a button to copy the code.

How do you guys find the camera on the Mate 20?

I had quite a high expectation of the camera and image quality but have been quite disappointed.
- Pictures seem sharp but the moment you zoom in a little, it is a muddy mess (across all three focal lengths). Not sure if it is oversharpened by the software or what.
- when in 2x zoom, the camera view finder flickers sometimes. I realized this happens when the camera can’t decide if it should be using the main camera or the 2x camera.
- the native camera app offers images in either 1:1, 4:3 or 18:9. That’s it. It doesn’t have an option for 16:9 resolution. The 18:9 resolution is basically cropping from the 4:3 image so everything appears a bit more zoomed than possible and makes framing a little odd. i have to shoot using the Lightroom CC camera app if i want things to be in 16:9. But I will lose the versatility of the zoom and ultra-wide angle cameras. Doesn’t help that the LR CC camera app doesn’t make full use of the giant screen.

The above are my opinions, just to start a discussion about your thoughts on the Mate 20’s camera.
