Hi all, just curious if anyone else who owns a M20Pro with LG screen but did not have the green tint problem. Isit possible to get an exchange? Worried it might come sooner or later on my LG set.

If it’s not A or B and it’s 9, means it’s built in Sept :s13:

Just to check again those getting your exchange sets, are you getting the Nov batch or some still got Oct batch?

The serial S/N is in this pattern XXXXX18A23XXXXXX
18 = Year
A = Oct batch, B = Nov batch
23 = day of the month..

Mine is 18A120, it's LG panel so far so good 2 weeks+ usage

I think it really depends on your luck.. I bought on launch day 27 oct. Green screen started to develop around 5 November. Did an exchange when I complained so much on Facebook that they had no choice but to call me.. Lol.. So I did exchange last tuesday..

Last weekend I notice that the green screwn starts to develop again. Not visible during thebday, but certainly visible in the dark. Again a stupid LG screen. LG screws up Huawei big time. Now another round of complain through facebook. Their customer service very lousy. Calling and emailing them is waste of your time.

My advice is if you start to notice some bleeding, start notifying them. You paid 1350$ for a proper faulty free device..

Precisely they should just stop issuing the units with LG screen. The same thing happened to me in the end I just got rid of the Mate 20 Pro.

It shouldn't be so hard to get an exchange too. They may have overtaken Apple but their customer service is still subpar. It's a nice phone. I just didn't want to go through the hassle to exchange again.

1) Anyone purchased from Best Denki during Sitex?

One of the item in the Best Denki given Giftbox is an OTG USB C adapter, but am unable to get it to work with any USB card readers (inclusive of the HuaWei 2-In-1 card reader).

Any of your sets can connect to USB card readers or USB Flash Drives via OTG?

Thanks.

2) My Firmware is also .108. After I put in my Starhub sim card, there's a Custom firmware for Starhub. I guess I shall not update that.

Will try use my M1 prepaid sim later, see if there's new firmware.

Regards

Cheery

I am having LG screen... telco set... no problem.

Been using since few weeks back (since day 4th after launch).

Even if it develops slight green tinge (touch wood) eventually I will not be changing immediately unless it became very bad as based on the problems described here, you will have to do it in very low brightness and dark surroundings.... will then go and change maybe in 15 month or so..... by then:

1. The issue should be completely resolved
2. I will get a new phone instead so I can use longer (although warranty period won't change)

you won;'t get exchanged if there is no problem at all. This happens probably in a very low percentage of the LG panels (of course still high compared to BOE panels) and usually problems get amplified by complaints (no issue as this will ultimately make manufacturers make good of the warranty).

I have no idea what is the percentage though

Anyone recently bought from Singtel Mate 20 Pro, with LG screen? Just to ask again, how to check for green screen? Is it very obvious? Only on sides or whole screen? :s11: Thanks!

If your screen is defective, it will become obvious after 2-3 days. Try going to dark room with your brightness setting to the lowest then launch an app that has a dark gray background. You'll see some green tint on the sides.

Huawei and Optus acknowledge green screen issues on Huawei mate 20 Pro and are taking action to help

"These days, it seems there’s not a smartphone launch that goes by without some hiccup. In the case of Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro, users have been complaining of their screens tinting green in some circumstances. Initially, Huawei offered no official response, instead asking affected customers to go through the process with their retailer. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this didn’t resonate well with all customers. Those who purchased from Optus took to the YesCrowd forums to vent their concerns.

Our earlier story on these issues attracted a lot of attention. So much so, in fact, that almost 50 customers contacted Ausdroid with their details and asked for our help. So, help we did. Ausdroid’s working relationship with Huawei allowed us to contact the right people to help get this issue the attention it deserves. Fortunately also, Optus has stepped up its response to customer feedback about the Mate 20 Pro screen, and it appears the issue is now being addressed.

Optus has confirmed the existence of the issue:

After analysis of a sample of Huawei Mate 20 Pro returns conducted by Huawei and Optus we have confirmed that all units tested exhibited the green tint to varying degrees.

Testing has shown that the failure manifests when the display brightness is set to zero and viewed in a low ambient light environment and only when viewing a dark screen.

We can confirm that the failure doesn’t inhibit the issue of the handset or pose a danger.

We will continue to offer a replacement from good stock or a cancellation/refund (if you’d prefer)

An Optus representative has also confirmed what our feedback found; the LG display appears to be the main culprit. Very few of the other displays (manufactured by BOE) have demonstrated the same issue. 91% of those who got in touch with Ausdroid had Mate 20 Pro screens from LG, whereas only 8.3% had BOE screens.

Further to this, Huawei Australia has been in touch with all customers who contacted Ausdroid about their Mate 20 Pro experiences, though we understand a few remaining customers will be contacted early next week. We understand that Huawei is working with Optus (and other retailers) to ensure that any affected customers have clear options available to them to address the issue, including replacement or refund if required. Huawei has also given direct contact details to affected customers should they need them.

As much as a public statement from Huawei might offer some confirmation or comfort, I’d rather see concrete action and that’s what we seem to be seeing now. Affected customers are being given assistance to resolve their concerns, and Huawei and Optus appear to be working to ensure supplies of unaffected stock so that the issue gets resolved going forward as well as for existing customers.

We’ve discussed this internally, and our Editorial team agrees – this is a good development from Huawei and Optus. It might’ve taken a bit of a voice to get everything happening, but the response from Huawei and Optus seems to be pretty good. Let’s hope it delivers. Kudos! 👍"
