Will Mate 9 get the update till Android P?
Considering but worry that model will be 'outdated' as I plan it as a long-term purchase

U updated ardy? Is there still have app force close?

When i was on 188, i encountered only about 3 or 4 times in total. Not too sure if 189 will fix it, but reading the changelog, this is just updating the android security patch to September.

Why don't you try disabling "close excessively power intensive app" in battery settings?

I just ordered Mate 9 from Shopee, after considering its processor, battery life, camera and good discount from last year's Nov launch price.

According to various online articles, Mate 9 might receive the latest Android 8 in the next few months after Mate 10 is fully released in the market.

How to get in touch with the technical support? Or are they here in the forum? The software like got bug, sometimes saved contact number will disappear, then later reappear again. Plus the mobile data usage monitoring doesn't have the option for us to input a auto reset date based on billing cycle.
for billing cycle please use telco app.

For contacts sync issue, it's google code. if you have multiple accounts syncing you are sure to have all kinds of issues. For contacts I only have 1 account syncing with no issues.

To get technical support, just key into your Hicare app in the phone and they will respond fast.

It seems that the location services will still work when roaming data and WiFi is both unavailable. For example when in google maps it will still be able to identify the user current location as well as when the user moves. Is this normal? Or is it a connected Telco feature? Don't know if will be charged data usage not.
location services depend on network, wifi receive, bluetooth and gps. If cellular data not available, wifi and BT will still receive, gps will still work.

indications are Mate 9 will sure update to Android O (from public news and postings).

When you get O, it's a matter whether your Mate 9 O is trebled O or non-trebled O. If you get trebled O, even if Huawei didn't make updates, theoretically any 3rd party compiled AOSP Android can be used to update the trebled device, while keeping drivers intact.

If you don't have trebled O, just patchwork O, then you have to wait for manufacturer to update the entire OS and drivers.

There is no news about P for any phone yet.
