location services depend on network, wifi receive, bluetooth and gps. If cellular data not available, wifi and BT will still receive, gps will still work.
Okay can you try to disable your mobile data, WiFi, Bluetooth then enable your location information? See if google map will point you to your location. Only thing that wouldn't work is if you need travel direction from one point to another. Cause usually only with mobile data or WiFi then it will work, in this case, it works even without such connections. But it only tells you where you are on the map, even as you walk.

for billing cycle please use telco app.

For contacts sync issue, it's google code. if you have multiple accounts syncing you are sure to have all kinds of issues. For contacts I only have 1 account syncing with no issues.

To get technical support, just key into your Hicare app in the phone and they will respond fast.
Okay thanks. It's actually more ideal to have it as a default function in the phone to reset based on billing cycle. Otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose, and then to only download another application to monitor usage. I guess it could be due to multiple accounts that's causing the contact syncing issue, then again, shouldn't the the phone be smart enough to handle this hahaha. Cause I didn't come across such issues with my previous phone, it also allowed me to set a reset date for mobile data along with call time and sms.

If this is a new feature, I think it's good to have. Just worried if there will be any data charges while overseas. Funny thing is that even when roaming data is disabled, it still works haha.

It seems that the location services will still work when roaming data and WiFi is both unavailable. For example when in google maps it will still be able to identify the user current location as well as when the user moves. Is this normal? Or is it a connected Telco feature? Don't know if will be charged data usage not.

I can still use Google Map offline: my location is a blue dot and it still recommends the most direct route to my destination. This means that it is still usable without WIFI and data. You can test via the following steps:

1. Download Google Map first so that it can be used offline.
2. Turn off your WIFI and data access.
3. Re-start Google Map and search for directions to your destination.

Thanks. I just find it interesting that the blue dot still moves without connections, and without google map offline.

According to this article, it just requires long pressing of the shoot button.

My Mate 9 should arrive today. Kind of late to the party but the discounted price is good.
I also read about long press but it doesn't work. Can anybody try? Cannot find anything in camera settings.

Ya it seem that the screen get scratch Vy easy.
So sad..

There are some full-screen protectors for Mate 9 that cover the top and bottom bezels completely, so you won't be able to see the top and bottom scratches.

I ordered mine from a Carousell seller who is pricing them at $1.50 only. I have yet to receive it though.

My Mate 9 arrived yesterday and its camera is really quite fun to play with. The screen is good, speed is fast and charging is quite rapid.

The key protection for me is a more robust cover, which I'm still looking for one. My previous Xiaomi Mi Max screen was badly cracked when it landed at a corner after a 1.5m fall that is why I got this one to replace it.

I miss Mi Max huge battery capacity but I'm getting another fast charger to put in my office to make up for the lower battery capacity. In nearly all other areas, this Mate 9 beats Mi Max hands-down so it is a very worthwhile upgrade for me.
