Android 9 is really being deployed to Mate 9 phones. Currently, it should be in China, then rest of the world over next few weeks. It is amazing to still get such an update for a 2-year old phone.

Android Pie is available on the entire Huawei Mate 9 range

There's a reason why Huawei rises up the popularity rate for hp brands one. Now 2 years plus already and the phone is still zipping fast.

My mate 9 volume down button not responding...worth to send for repair?

Of course, that's what warranty is for.

I sent mine last Dec for the volume buttons, they changed not only the buttons, also the whole exterior casing. Thus, the phone looked brand-new! But I sent in black, came out gold phone. Lol.

While you at it, you may tried asking them to change the battery too, since the phone would be dismantled anyway. Battery usually last 2~3 years, so you are not lying. By saying battery have issue. Or if you don't want yo take advantage of them, ask to top up for battery replacement, won't cost more than $50, and you'll get a "NEW" phone back.

And because changing the battery will need to change the screen too, it means you get a new screen too. Did mine last December, new battery and new screen, paid $0. Thank you, Huawei.

Good for you. :s12:

Mine is OK, if left untouch, at least 4 days standby with ~30%. When using as hotspot oversea, 50% before bedtime. So not too bad, way better than HTC10 which drop to ~30% at 3pm as hotspot. Actually I have no idea if they had changed the battery, the mobo is still the old one though, IMEIs are the same.

Either way, I think the Mate 9 is still as good as current mid range phone. I'm really surprise it didn't lag as my other old phones. eg, HTC10 with SD820 lagggg even after factory reset; much more responsive than Sam A9Pro with SD652, MiMax with SD650, as good as VIVO V11 with SD660. Everyday using is smooth, opening any apps, eg, camera; the best is app installing and updating, almost instant after download complete.

I seriously happy with Huawei, used to be HTC sense UI fan. Have 2x HTC10, E8, Desire Eyes, Butterfly 1 & 2, THE one M7...now replaced all of them with Mate 9, Mate 10, P20 Pro, Mate 20 and Mate 20X. Too bad the P30 Pro is curved, hope the Mate 30 will stay flat but use the Pro cameras.

Battery life any impact? So far battery is lasting, still v fast and snappy on Android 8. Think will keep it that way as it is a backup fone.

The latest update drain battery man.. Don't update.. Oreo better

Just read this. :-o

Previously there was a firmware update that caused bad battery life. Then another made it right again. Think will hold off.
