I'd say don't bother with the non pro p30.
But I guess those who have that phone can comment here.

I see completely no point in buying that phone given basically everything else is worse (except the headphone jack). And well, size.

Transiting to p30p,
screen is worse,
Battery is a on par,
Rear camera is superior,
Overall connectivity (to various devices) are better
The ram management is better
Heavier


Front camera wise,
M20p has auto focus and faster focus due to the face id tech
P30p have to maintain 30-50cm away for best shot since its fixed focus
P30p 's selfie hdr is way superior
Overall image algorithm is better imo

Camera on Smart phones cannot compete with DSLRs except for 3 scenarios. I play with m43 cameras a little but am non pro.

Why? Very simple, the camera sensor size. M43 or APSC or full Frame just blast phone cameras off the orbit.

The 3 scenarios wise :
1)Convenience! We probably have our smart phone all the time
2)Easy media sharing. The decent cameras are so much more dumb than a smart phone
3)On the go awesome HDR. The cameras require the photographers to go back to photoshop to process

Having said that, computing photography has improved so much in recent years, it's scary.
Just a matter of time before the True SMART DSLRs are made XD

Is the shop assistant good in placing the tempered glass? Mine quite poorly done and with lotsa air bubbles along both sides.

On notifications, is it possible to get notified when a message comes in but without that drop down preview?

Yes. This can be adjusted in the settings function. Takes awhile to find it but I think you can click whether for the notifications to be shown.

Sorry but isn't the selfie cam on Mate 20 pro also fixed focus? I have it and did not notice any auto focus capability in my usage.

I did a comparison in the shop and found that p30 Pro has better and louder speakers. Although I understand that it's still lousy compared to iPhone and s10. And the p30 Pro blue light filter gets a lot more yellow than the mate 20 pro. This has been one of my gripe of the Mate, that the screen is way too blue on night mode.
