I never seen anybody using Google Pay. I also don't use it.
Lol. I'm using it everyday n Everytime for any payment as long as they allow paywave.
Having CC with 2% cash rebate why not use it.

And with now covid-19, people should use electronic payment.

I dunno why an advance country can lose to China where everyone is using electronic payment. Even people at wet market using too.

Huawei is not for you then.. Those people not using Google apps should have no problem..
Erm truth to be told, Android users outside China mostly relied on Google all these while that it will take a lot of effort for Huawei to convince Android users that HMS is the another good alternative.

Also, Google services made the Android experience more well-rounded too.

That's not being helpful honestly. Ppl are trying to find solution or alternatives to the google apps. If there are ways to still use them, more ppl would want to give it a try. Not simply just brush off with "not the phone for you then".

Don't need to be in awe of China.

When your country currency have dubious legitimacy, comes in all kind of condition of course you will opt for a safer option

And of course not feasible to bring stacks of note around in places with higher spending nor using few yuan coins in villages

Is there WhatsApp in the Huawei app gallery?
Can't seem to find it in AppGallery on my Huawei phone.

The common social media apps are missing in AppGallery as of now.

The apps aren't the problem here, you can sideload most of them. Banking apps may break occasionally, if they work at all (due to missing certification), but it's something you just need to come to terms with before putting down the cash for a Huawei device without GMS. Most video apps won't be running optimally because the P40 only has basic Widevine L3 support meaning stuff like Netflix runs in SD. Which is a crying shame considering the P40's improved display panel. And of course, Google Pay.

Just like yhw22, GPay is so integral to my daily life that there is absolutely no way I'd ever go back. Dash kind of works similarly but you need to top up your wallet manually, plus why let yet another company have your credit card info?

there's just no way Huawei phones post-Trump are going to fit into my lifestyle. There's just no way I can get around the lack of missing certification leading to so much feature omission that you'd take for granted, even in a budget handset. I've got nothing but love for my P30p and I could easily use this phone for another 6 months but when I look at the newer Huawei phones all I see are handsets ruined by American meddling.

Alternatives? Xiaomi, LG, Oppo, the Pixel. Hell even Samsung if you're okay with their Exynos BS. I just can't f with the newer Huawei stuff.

Though you won't be able to update the app subsequently through AppGallery, unless you also install a 3rd party APK store to update the app.

the AI can identify bodies by the shape and skin tone, so it probably took many pictures of the background prior to you pressing the shutter button so it knows how to "photoshop" the passerby out

Only works for person behind the focused object. Magic has its limitations i guess.

"Like all technologies and the features they bring, AI Remove Passerby has its kinks. We confirmed with Huawei that the feature only works on passersby and photobombers that are behind the subject, and not in front. To ensure that AI Remove Passerby works as intended, the shooter also must focus on the face of the subject, allowing the yellow focusing box to appear right before you snap your photo. Considering that the alternative could likely be the conventional tripod-assisted photo-taking via multiple attempts, we'd choose to have AI Remove Passerby for the convenience it offers."

GMS is over-rated. We were still using our hand phone happily before Google became dominant. Let's not be over reliant on a company's product.
