I'm really tempted to get P40 Pro to replace my Mate 10 Pro which is still working like a champ. I suppose I can try to migrate away from Google which will take a long time and is a real pain but still doable, I think. Only thing is Google Pay which I use whenever there's a Paywave option. Probably have to start carrying around my credit card for this purpose. Inconvenient but still the P40 Pro might just be worth all these trouble.

Though you won't be able to update the app subsequently through AppGallery, unless you also install a 3rd party APK store to update the app.

June den release i think. if i want to get, also only considering pro+. by june, maybe got other new phones releasing too (op8, xperia 1 II).

estimate around 1399€ so in sgd is over 2K?

Good for you then, this phone is ideal for your use case. I wouldn't make the assumption that Google Pay is unpopular just because you don't use it though.

I link GPay to my DBS card mah. Again, the apps aren't the problem here, lack of Goog certification is.

guess it makes sense to have the subject in front, then the TOF can work its magic on the subject..and it does need human intervention to tell it which is the subject. not sure if it will work in group photos or not, since there are multiple subjects ...

Current P30 Pro users, are you going to upgrade to P40 Pro or P40 Pro+ (in June)?

P40 Pro has same 5x optical zoom as P30 Pro.. bigger sensor, more gimmicks (like the remove passerby feature) but I don't think it justifies the exchange with having no more GMS. May as well stay with P30 Pro.

P40 Pro+ on the other hand has 10x optical zoom but no more GMS. Of course probably in the range of $1.6k..

What's your take?
