About the latest firmware update v1.10,

Lots of response improvement to the UI as mention earlier by Randius and others.
However, in terms of SQ, it took a step back IMO.

Lost that extra depth and decay in instruments presentation.
Lost a fair bit of that airy and wider soundstage.
Lost the musicality during live recording playback.
Turning on EQ helps improve the above but negligible improvements.
With EQ on (open), when screen goes to sleep, there is a significant pause in music playback while song is being played.

Gained more forward mids and highs. Basically everything got moved more in your face.
Gained greater clarity, though I love clarity, this one seems a little too much (compressed?).

In a nutshell, you have a cowon J3 on super steroids with some characteristics from DX100.
It may seem like a compliment but I felt this v1.10 update lost what made DX100 SQ's sound so magnificent.

Have already reverted to v1.03 firmware. Unfortunately, doing so I've lost gapless playback (option missing) and some glitches are back (ie. lock screen pops up in intermittent split seconds). On the bright side, got back the SQ we all fell in love with, and the UI seems to remain as responsive.

Hope iBasso can give us further firmware updates that brings the best of v1.03 and v1.10 together plus more enhancements (hopefully SQ does take a notch up this time).

I am going to downgrade firmware as well. Didn't like the sound quality of the new firmware after long listening.

Went back down to 1.0.3 after a few days... I have a few tracks which will pause after the end of the song. Anyone knows why?

The sound of the new firmware makes music sound sleepy for some reason. The vocals are too forward, there is a lack of attack in the transients and the soundstage lost a lot of depth. Clarity improved but it is not worth the trade off. The 1.03 firmware makes it sound hi-fi grade whie the new firmware seems to make it more like Walkman z kind of sound. What made ibasso change the sound engine/settings? Its time to write them an email/petition to revert back?

The biggest change is the loss of dynamics, now everything sounds compressed.

Just joined the DX100 club.

Sold my iMod + mCaps + magnum combo to fund this. Now burning in. Managed to get from Treoo at $9xx after deducting coupon discount and taking advantage of Standard Chartered $80 cash back.

How long did you guys burn in?

$9xx? That's pretty close to the 1st batch pricing so you've gotten yourself a good deal. Enjoy the DX100 :D

Auditioned the DX100 today.
On first impression it can really boost the volume up very high, but later I felt that the sound is a little bit bassy? Like very deep and low sound. I'm using the demo Miracles anyway, since I'll be getting those in a months time.

Is it because I'm still use to my old TF10 SQ? I really need a new mp3 player right now, prolly around $800 is as far as I can go, is the DX100 really worth the savings?

First song is Rolling in the Deep and it was great, then slowly it felt deeper than my usual iPod Nano 3rd Gen (Yes I know, it's only 4GB with few FLAC albums only). That's why I'm asking you guys for opinions.

Or maybe I didn't really play around with the gains and EQs yet.........

The DX100 already performs very well without any upsampling and EQ settings, IIRC the Stereo DX100 is version 1.1.0 which many claims the sound is not enjoyable as it was in the older versions but details/clarity its better.

I personally like the new version more but I believe the iBasso team is still changing stuff to make it even better. =)

I see. Then I assume that the DX100 is really worth the extra $400 savings (for my case) and I should consider getting them?
