Yes, it's better to call them up first and get a Case ID, instead of making your way down to the Service Centre. I had a few Lenovo laptops (bought from Lenovo Singapore Reseller) which needed some parts replaced and I never had a single problem with getting them fixed under warranty.

However, I just received my first X230, which was bought from Lenovo USA, and I haven't had any issue with it to warrant any warranty claims... yet.

OK I have a clearer picture after calling them today. Apparently my laptop is under Limited Warranty and non IWS. Unless I can show a receipt from Lenovo or my passport showing my period of travel to US, they will repair my laptop for a fee. Ebay receipts are not accepted in this case. So for those who bought Lenovo from ebay, just take note of this.

If you are unable to repair your lappy, can give me your HDD rubber? The 2 pieces that wrap round your HDD.

My T420 came with 7mm HDD but I ordered a Crucial M4 9.5mm SSD. Canno fit.

that day when my cousin came to me for help to clone the os to a m4 ssd she bought...her ssd is a 9.5mm one but in between the ssd casing is a black piece of plastic..i open up the casing without tearing off the crucial warranty sticker and wow the plastic piece can be taken out and convert it to a 7mm one....

U see if there is a black piece of plastic in the middle anot ?

I purchased a refurbished X220 from ebay last year. Recently, I found some bright white spots on the IPS screen. As it is under warranty, I thought I could bring it to the Lenovo Service Centre and probably have my screen repaired or replaced. However, they asked for the original Lenovo receipt which did not come with my laptop previously. Hence, they are unable to do the replacement for free.

I asked for a quotation for the replacement for the screen. The service staff quoted me $400+ and a labour charge of about $75. Seriously, I do not think this is worth it. Does anyone know a cheaper means of getting the screen replaced?

u might want to bring to AddOn systems ? I ever brought a W510 i ordered from the states....nvr bring receipt they just check the online warranty and say can log the case for me...gotta wait thou...but they are quite helpful...maybe u bring go ask ? i here and there got buy thinkpads from them one.... after sales is quite good :)

Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6205 Wifi

Ultrabase series 3 with Blu-Ray Drive
Lenovo 90W Ultraslim Adapter x 2
Original Lenovo 65W Adapter
6 Cell Battery Lenovo Battery

I realize by using 65W, the CPU will throttle to 800Mhz which is bad! So purchased another 90W adapter for my portable use.

Wa! Nice system.
Can share where u got your ultrabase + blu-ray drive from?
and how much ah?

And also where to purchase the 90W ultraslim adapter? how much?

It seems like the earlier x220s had a problem with their touchpads jittering alot when using a 90w adapter.
Was only solved recently with firmware updates.
You might wanna google abit on that?

This adapter although the size is not big, but is heavy. I have one and hardly carry it around.

Wa nice!
I've always got a little phobia ordering electronics off ebay... prefer to stick to amazon ... and normally try to select sold by amazon itself.

But that is a very good price for the ultraslim charger!!

Can share the ebay store for the ultrabase + BR drive?

thanks!!
