juz to ask if Lenovo Thinkpad iz stil as gd as IBM Thinkpad. considering a change since my Acer laptop iz going haywire.
It is no longer as good as before. But still, I think it is considered one of the better ones out there in the market. Price is high though.

Wa nice!
I've always got a little phobia ordering electronics off ebay... prefer to stick to amazon ... and normally try to select sold by amazon itself.

But that is a very good price for the ultraslim charger!!

Can share the ebay store for the ultrabase + BR drive?

thanks!!

The ultrabase + drive is bought from private sellers through bidding.. Try ur luck by searching ard :)

T430s from US Lenovo website

Hi guys, i am comparing between Thinkpad T430s and the HP Envy Spectre. I was considering the X230 but i have since given up when i heard the max resolution was 1366x758.

Both T430s and HP Envy Spectre can go up to 1600x900 - great for programming work. In turn i will install vSphere hypervisor to run two OS at the same time.

I have some questions regarding the T430s - any bros keen to help?

Wifi - What is the difference between ThinkPad 1x1 b/g/n, Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200 (2x2 BGN), Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN, Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN?

I'll take T430 instead of T430s.

Wifi differences from my knowledge and a bit of googling.

ThinkPad 1x1: single-stream 150Mbps, single-band (2.4GHz), b/g/n
Centrino 2200: multi-stream 300Mbps, single-band (2.4GHz), b/g/n
Centrino 6205: multi-stream 300Mbps, dual-band (2.4GHz, 5GHz), a/b/g/n
Centrino 6300: multi-stream 450Mbps, dual-band (2.4GHz, 5GHz), a/b/g/n

You will also be paying more for a slimmed down version of the T430, the T430s. Other than that, its basically the same machine! :)

9 Cell Battery Lenovo Battery
Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit

I realize by using 65W, the CPU will throttle to 800Mhz which is bad! So purchased another 90W adapter for my portable use.

I wanted to order the 9 cell battery but wasn't sure that US customs will allow it to be shipped by itself. Did you order the 9 cell together with the notebook?

Yes.. No problem to ship battery in leh.. in fact, both 6 cell and 9 cell came together in a box.

Btw, anyone using 8gb ram sticks? Which brand works well with thinkpad? Feel like upgrading to 16gb ram. Running VM so need more ram..

Thanks but i need it to be as portable and light as possible. At 1.9kgs, it is already heavy for me. I was looking for more a X301replacement at 1.5kg or even lesser.

Too bad you decided not to go for the X220/230, though. :)

Yea, I was thinking x220/x230 could do at least 1440x900. But only the t430/w430 can do higher res. My benchmark right now is a x301. If there is a direct replacement for x301, I'll get it.
