Wait for next Black Friday...

I bought my X230 1 week earlier. If I had waited, could have saved a further USD20. My entry model starts from USD 594 for the X230. I upgrade here an there to i5, IPS, camera, 9 cell, biometrix, lighted keyboard. Paid USD 744 before freight and tax.

Did you used Comgateway for your freight service? How much was the shipping and the singapore tax?

For x230, the chargeable weight is 2.5kg.

With express shipping and GST, the payable amount about USD85.85 (excluding CGW promo)

Think you guys might want to double confirm if The lenovo bought from US using comgateway is still covered under local warranty before making the purchase. No use having IWS but local service center rejecting it.
As good as no warranty.

Yeah, I was about to do the same too but I am not sure what is the status from Lenovo Singapore about the warranty.

I read some where in this thread that Lenovo Singapore is refusing warranty for those brought thru using a 3rd party shipping services back to Singapore, is it true?

Thanks.

Previously, they did not require proof of purchase aka receipt. They will check by your serial number.

But heard one of my friend has got his machine rejected from the service center as he could not produce the original proof of purchase.

Freight about USD30.

Tax is based on overall amount in USD. Funny, CG charged me 8% instead of 7%. Not only that, bank will still earn on amount charged. What to do since my notebook is at their mercy.

Thinkpad X131e. Thrown around by UPS from China to Oregon, USA. Then thrown around by DHL from Oregon, USA to Singapore.

I've just purchased a X230 from US and 1 week later my unit is dead.

1. Battery cannot be charged. Laptop can no longer run off battery.
2. (2 hours later) Hard disk detection error.

The unit's practically dead now.
Any suggestions on how I can go about getting my repairs done? Can I get it repaired in Singapore or do I have to send it to US to get it repaired?

I was thinking of purchasing on-site warranty from the US and getting it repaired on site in Singapore. Is this possible?

If your machine is covered by IWS, Lenovo Support - International Warranty Services (US) you can try going to Lenovo service center in Singapore at Changi.

You bought it through Comgateway/Borderlinx? Do update us whether the warranty is supported in SG for laptops bought through 3rd party. :)

Get your machine to be assessed at the service center first before considering the onsite warranty.

There are 2 service centers according to their webby: Lenovo Authorized Service Partners in ASEAN for Think Series products, 3000 N and V Series notebooks

Appreciate your update the outcome whether they will service your machine shipped via cgw. Thanks!

There's no longer an option to purchase Lenovo computers / warranty via Amazon Checkout or Paypal any longer.

The Paypal option was removed earlier this week.

Having difficulties purchasing warranty for my unit now.

Sorry guys but I don't think I want to risk a trip to the service centre. The T&C clearly states I won't be able to get the warranty service from the depot.

It's been explained clearly here:
Lenovo International Warranty Service Facts and Tips - Products - Lenovo Blogs

The full T&C are here:
International Warranty Service Terms And Conditions (English)

Currently planning to get the unit repaired overseas.

Lenovo has 2 kinds of warranty for their product. Thinkpad usually has international warranty.

Check your machine herer : Lenovo Support - Check Warranty Status (US)

Anyway, buying oversea is always a risk as you cannot see and feel the product before paying up.

I chatted with Lenovo live chat and they told Amazon checkout is temporary removed and may come back next year.

Since your thinkpad is covered by IWS and you have proof of purchase, why not just try going to the service center or call them up before sending back to the US to repair? I remember seeing people in this thread claim from Lenovo SG with a US set.

Barely 2 months old and I am having unresponsive keyboard letter 'A' and 'Z' keys; needs to press numerous times before the keys get registered.

Anyone has similar problems, what is the typical turnaround time if I send in for service?

Yes they tell you its covered because they are assuming that you are from the US.but when you go to the local lenovo agent, they will require proof of purchase and they will not entertain freight forwarding bills(ie: comgateway,Vpost, borderlinx etc..).Thats what i understand.
