Isn't the official receipt from Lenovo sent to the freight fowarder with the parcel?

So official receipt from Lenovo is not a proof of purchase?

In my conversation, it's already clearly a statement i said i will be sending it out of USA.

The online sales rep just want the customers to enter their rep ID during the checkout process to earn incentives. Whatever happens after your sales transaction is handled by other departments... So don't be sold on whatever they said

Look at this link: International Warranty Service Terms And Conditions (English)

"Customers requiring International Warranty Service in any of the ASEAN countries may be asked to provide one of the following in order to obtain IWS warranty repair service; proof of company identification (company letter, email, business card, company badge with photo ID), proof of purchase (purchase receipt, official order, delivery note, sales memo, or invoice), and/or proof of travel (passport with valid Visa to or from country where product was purchased, or other travel documents)."

If you never try bringing it to local service center, you never know whether they accept or not.

So those who bought extended US warranty, you guys planning to ship back to US every time it encounter problems? If that's the case, need to wait for a good deal on US site to cover unforeseen shipping cost and longer time for warranty.

Exactly, so far i've not heard of warranty can't claim for Thinkpad.

As of today, it's only one fellow who is afraid by just reading the T n C without actually calling or visiting the local S.C

Luckily I didn't buy them during Black Friday sales even though it's so tempting. :s22:

I bought local set with 3 years onsite warranty. :)

There's no longer an option to purchase Lenovo computers / warranty via Amazon Checkout or Paypal any longer.

The Paypal option was removed earlier this week.

Having difficulties purchasing warranty for my unit now.

Sorry guys but I don't think I want to risk a trip to the service centre. The T&C clearly states I won't be able to get the warranty service from the depot.

It's been explained clearly here:
Lenovo International Warranty Service Facts and Tips - Products - Lenovo Blogs

The full T&C are here:
International Warranty Service Terms And Conditions (English)

Currently planning to get the unit repaired overseas.

Why overseas when you can do it locally. I have a Thinkpad T410 that I bought from the states and I got it repaired at the Service Center in Funan under warranty. If I remembered correctly its the Lenovo Store by Addon. For your model I am not sure but no harm checking with them first.

Hi, I'm thinking to get a W530 but they're no longer offering them at academic prices for uni students. Thinking of getting it from seeseelooklook. Anyone purchased from them before? (Think the shop has been discussed slightly before but didn't find any reviews)

And since we're on the issue of the warranty and all, will my warranty be valid if I purchase from seeseelooklook? (Know I should be asking the store, but thought I could use a more objective opinion) :D

Also, just to share my experience, I sent in my w500 to lenovo thru Singpost just a few months back. Relatively fast paperwork stuff at singpost, just need to fill in the serial number, model and whatnots. And even though I only sent in the laptop at 5pm, I received a call from Lenovo the very next day and was informed that it was a HDD issue and got it replaced. They also fixed my usb ports (which I got them brutally damaged). Collected them the next day at Singpost. Super satisfied.:D

Can anyone name a few msata drives that will work with a x230 for boot and programs?
Preferably in the 256GB range?

ThinkPad T430u

Has anyone bought the T430U? I wanted to get it during Black Friday sale but was put off by the small battery capacity and non-ips screen.

I went crazy over Thinkpads this year. Bought 2 sets of X230 and 1 set of W530. I really love my X230 and have gotten used to the new keyboard. Still quite nice to type.

Am using one now... :D

Got one with i7, 180g ssd (toshiba btw) and Nvidia gfx. Came with Windows 8 pro, but trashed that crap OS and downgraded to Win 7. Word of advise for those who are downgrading their Win 8 Pro - Go into bios and copy down the product key first! It only appears when Win 8 is installed. Once you downgrade to 7, you cant see it anymore!

Anyway, the T430u is very nicely engineered, looks like a macbook pro but black in color! At first I was turned off my the low display resolution as well, but so far it looks pretty good to me. Still can't get used to the island keys though and the trackpad is soo huge that I keep brushing against it while typing and screws up the text. :s13:

Can't say much about battery yet since it's always plugged in. Going to install some games soon to test out the gfx performance.

Just bought the X1 carbon 8GB 256SSD with no 3G.
Dock no stock has to wait 1-2 weeks. Touch hv to pre-order, take 1 month to come.

Win8 has to pay a token $17 to upgrade is it?

So you mean it comes with Win 7? Any other freebies? What's the total damage?
