I gotten this T41 some time last yr and sent it in THREE times and gotten the Optical Drive changed and HDD changed. Think the HDD is still a bit too noisy which my fren who is Laptop Engineer elsewhere gave his very objective view that I should be careful cos HDD being this noisy isn't that good sign.

Then I also realised that even after changing the Optical Drive, I recently tried to watch some DVDs drama but very disappointed that the media got hung either at the 2nd hour part.... or if not... these days... hung right form the beginning... I thot maybe prob is my DVDs... btu used the same DVDs on my fren's notebook... it worked perfectly well... no glitches.

Any advices? Thanks a lot...

Does anyone have a T42 with a 15"SGA 1400x1050 res screen?? is it good? I looking around the market for laptop with this screen. Seem to be very rare and expensive.

I am using 15" with 1600x1200, good and clear screen. No prob with the fonts, and no dead pixels.

I just got my T41 (2nd hand) yesterday. So far has been satisfied with the notebook. As I am quite new to notebook, would like to seek some advice from you all. Some questions that I have:

1) Where can I go to upgrade my RAM and harddisk? Any recommended vendor apart from IBM?

2) Would the warranty be void if the machine is open?

3) Saw one dead pixel on the LCD. Is it covered under warranty?

4) How should I clean the surface of the machine?

5) Any accessories for the T41, such as mouse...

1) You can do it yourself.

2) I believe it is not. The bays are user-accessible for a reason. (-;

3) You will need a minimum of 5 pixels for XGA screens, IIRC. 8, otherwise.

4) There are cleaning kits for LCD. I have been using glass cleaner so far.

5) You can simply get any mouse (S$20 Microsoft mouse is not bad) for it.

Problem with T23

Hi,

Someone just passed me a T23 but it's alittle faulty cos when I boot it up it gets a blue screen then it will try to re-start again and again and again ...

Can anybody help?

Hi,
Just got a new T43 at work today. Seems pretty cool, but only first day. I didn't check out the fitting of the optical drive that so many people are complaining about, but I did notice how poorly the USB ports were built. Its like they cut two holes in the body just to expose the USB ports!
My personal lappie is a Compaq B3818AP, by the way.
