VERY IMPORTANT, TAKE NOTE

guys, there is a new policy. if your machine is under warranty, but once we check and realise that its actually because of water spilleage and physical damage, we will not repair it under warranty and also u have to bear cost for Labour & Parts.

etc, my machine is under warranty, however my lcd have lines when on. engineer check and strip ur machine, realise is lcd faulty. we replace under warranty no charges.

another etc, my machine is Out of Warranty. same lcd problem, i drop the machine, i request to proceed with the repairs. labour - $75 + cost of lcd. so therefore i will bear all cost and my lcd have 1 year warranty from the date of purchase.

last etc, my machine is under warranty. lcd have line, same thing however when we repair the machine we found out its because of a physical dmg. so we will charge the customer labour + cost of part.

any queries, just post here. :)

Isn't such policy being in force all this while. Physical damage is never covered under warranty.

However, what constitutes physical damage is very contentious!

Just need to top up warranty with ThinkPad Protection (TPP). So this will enable accidents like drops and water spillage.

Paiseh. That's something new. That labour has to be paid.

But it's also only fair to the service centre that labour be paid though one really hope that charges can be lower. The other school of thought is that if one can afford a Thinkpad, one should be able to afford labour charges that arises.

How much is the warranty top up that covers spillage?

Dasanyuan: My audio conexant 20585 has now waveout/stereomix under recording... Using a W510 here. i can't find a similar problem that is online right now, and i believe waveout/stereomix should be incluided with the driver.

Hi dasanyuan,

Is Sg service centre opens on Saturday? Is there a ready stock for replacement motherboard for W510? Or is there any way to solve the following symptom?

The latest firmware update bricked my W510. I turn it on and the ThinkLight and LED's come on for a second like the computer should normally do, and then the screen just stays black and the CPU gets hot.
