dasanyuan, just wondering is it possible to get 64-bit image for ThinkPad W210 bought in poly?

meaning u want us to load for u a 64bit image? usually polys or unis have ur own image. or rather, if u want a 64bit from poly, u can check with ur seller. because we cannot just change ur image for u, its a license issue

erwin, ya even u are a part timer, its a just a reminder in the next 3 it shows to come. cause it wont be nice if customers come down to the service center or parkview and start banging the counters because of bad after sales service from resellers. so it will be nice if u can explain to them and tell them in the future. instead of just selling.

I do tell them on where they can bring their laptops to if they have problems if they ask. i cant do anything about after sales service beside telling them where to bring it for servicing etc.

Bought a new thinkpad edge 13 from IT show from Juzz1.

Within 2 days, the laptop keep going to sleep at random, sometime after 1/2 hr, sometime after few hour. I hate this kind of defective, it may come back after repair

Within 3 days, the wifi died.

I thought Thinkpad = quality, but quess it is more like cheap china brand now:(

Go to Juzzq, reply: there is no 1 for 1 exchange for first 7 days, go look for Lenovo and
receipt states warranty by manufacturer, no 1 for 1 exchange stated

Go to Lenovo, reply: no 1 for 1 exchange policy but they can consider the request but takes few weeks to consider

Am I wrong to assume there should be some sort of 1 for 1 exchange for the first week.

Appreciate some good advice.

Thanks.

I feel that you should take the case up with Juzz1 since you purchased the set from them.

dasanyuan, would like to check with you.

If I have a COA for Windows 7 Professional for my Thinkpad which comes preload with Windows Vista, can I request to loan the recovery disc for Windows 7 Professional to load and use my own Windows 7 product key to activate it? Prefer an original cloned factory image vs. self installed.

Thanks

Depends on which service engineer you talk to. Some really quite easy going while some demand that you do this test and that test despite me telling them all the troubleshooting that I've done. Same foe Dell too. You need to know how to talk to them. That's why I always stick to the same brand so that I know how to respond when I need technical help.

advise potential buyer to be extra careful when buying laptop, make sure check your lcd or led panel thoroughly, lenovo verification process is abit :s22: despite service personnel acknowledgement of no sign of abuse/mishandling.

I believe you will never get the IBM quality unless you are willing to sacrifice. Those machines ibm produces are thick and relatively heavy. Today, people want things that are thin and light as possible. I know some of us prefer our laptops to be more robust than lighter and thinner but the general public prefer thin and light thus company's have to adhere to that. Also another very important thing is check your moniter before you collect your machine. Nothing is perfect. Currently, i see people complaining about lenovo being a china company and not maintaining the thinkpad brand. Fyi. some of those engineer's that were working with the IBM thinkpad line do still work for lenovo. If you think current thinkpads are giving you so much problems wait till you witness other brands. My friend screwed his assignment cause his laptop got stuck in the service center for 2 months.

Pardon me if i sound harsh. I'm only a student and maybe i haven't matured in the industry. My views maybe considered nothing at all, but i wanted to let it out. My thinkpad ain't the most powerful, it ain't sexy and it ain't brag-worthy but it's reliable and so are the people behind the customer service hotline. I do not know about you guys, but i came to treasure the fact that my thinkpad didn't hasn't failed on me yet. I'm sure one day it might, but till then, i'm a happy man.

lenovo will never be my notebook/pc choice again forever!

hmmm. ok la to each have its own la. its like u buy thinkpad means drive conti car ma comapred to jap car... although i'm not a fan of LAPTOPS/NET/NOTEbooks i still think thinkpads are solid. but u must make sure u urself know WHY in the first place u buy thinkpads & y business users still prefer thinkpads... dun expect to game at all on a thinkpad la. seriously its like taking a cherry qq go sepang clock fastest lap... no link ma... and basic stuff like defrag ur hdd, keep a back up incase **** happens all this must still apply wat... maybe because ppl dun trust the brand lenovo anymore. but y so many ppl buying ther s-1o, y series all this? cheap? i dunno. but if ppl get turned off because thinkpad infront no IBM but put lenovo then i think its a very shallow thinking... look, we can complain our whole lives and we still will never ever get enough....

ok, regarding this LCD problem. its giving us problems too. alot of users wanna smoke me by saying oh crack by itself, this n that... once we open it up for verification we will know alright.... ANY damn LCD will crack. nothing is perfect. i believe my onsite colleagues are professional in their own way. if not we wont be going to ur place. so pls, dun doubt our team. thanks for understanding.

dasanyuan,

I noticed that my X201 power adaptor has the same ratings as my X61.
Is it the same charger? If so, can I use the X201 charger to charge my X61?

I now have 2 sets of X61 and 1 set of X201. If really can, shiok. Will leave 1 charger in office, 1 in the car and 1 at home. This way, I'll never run out of juice :)

Oh by the way, that day I called Lenovo to ask about replacement battery for my X61. Was told that 6 cell no longer in production and was advised to get the 8 cell as 4 cell also limited stock. Would prefer the 4 cell though as the whole idea of the X series is its weight. A 4 cell can easily last 2 hours wich is good enough for home use. Was told that the CSO will call the shops to check on stock availability and the shop will call me back. Good service. Unfortunately, I did not receive any call from any shop thereafter. I believe this service lapse is from the shop and not Thinkpad center. So this is one area for improvement that Lenovo might want to raise up with its distributors. Good thing I have 2 other X series with me else it would have tarnished my opinion of the excellent thinkpad after sales service.
