Trust me. That download link is useless.

The disc you buy will redo your HDD to factory default with all the driver and software all in. Including the recovery partition.

yeah direct from juzz1.

everything can be downloaded. also to say not everything is required, depend on one needs and wants.

the link is good enough for me can do self reformat n dun need waste time by going down etc.

What do you mean USB port being live?

I have some problems with the port too but can still live with it. Here's the details:

I have a USB dongle for my wireless mouse. If I on the mouse before the window in OR off the mouse before the lappy fully off(display is black), i'll get blue screen.

LIVE as in even after you off the laptop, the USB still has power. It's not the powered USB though. It's the USB 3.0 and others. Weird isn't it?

I tried to uninstall the intel proset software, after doing that I cannot use my wifi. Any suggestion?

Hi,

I am looking for a T43 compatible hard disk. Want to avoid the famous 'Error 2010' problem. Know anywhere I can get one or shops to recommend from SLS? Prefer a used one though as budget limiting. Anything above 80GB is fine.

u will get the error 2010 for almost any HDD u buy that is not shipped from lenovo/IBM.
they flash the HDD firmware in the factory to stop the error 2010 from popping out.

and, for T43 then, 80GB IDE HDD was the biggest they had then. 100GB - 250GB are all 3rd party options.

just get any IDE HDD u want and ignore the error. it wont cause any data loss or issues.

my T40 can power on but can't get to the POST screen or the Thinkpad screen.
I suspect the motherboard is faulty, given that the problem still stays even with the HDD removed or with another HDD inserted.

Would anyone have any repair shop recommendations?
Would it be advisable to repair this reliable workhorse or would it be be prudent to get a net book costing around $500 instead?

Wow...a T40. How long have you been using this baby? Almost 5 years i reckon? If so, I guess its a very good ROI already and its probably a good time to upgrade now with the GSS and PC Show around the corner.

But I've been toying with replacing the motherboard and getting a pata ssd (budget of $500) as opposed to $500 netbook.

Hence would like to gather some opinions and comments on
both options before the PC show .

Wah...7 years. I think its quite clear that an upgrade is in order. It may be mostly sentimental reasons holding you back, but seriously speaking I doubt a refurbished T40 is going to last as long as a new notebook. Better spend the money on a new one and give the old bird a medal of honor....haha

Thanks for your advice. I did have my eye on the Ul20A and it does has some pretty big shoes to fit in

Flash HD decoding is supported only by adobe flash 10.1 RC as of now if you use supported Intel Graphics like 4500MHD, Intel HD Graphics, 3150HD Graphics on Atom chipsets.

hi, my recovery cd for the sl400 is damage and i know it can only create a set of recovery disk.

is there any way to recreate it again? if not possible, how do i get a recovery disk from?

well, still considering about a netbook. But since its mainly for entertainment and travels and surfing youtube, I will look into the video playback issues before jumping into the a non-red dot laptop haha.
