Hey guys,

I just upgraded my thinkpad R50e to Win7 but i can't find any compatible wireless adapter driver. I believe the wireless adapter is an integrated wireless adapter on an intel motherboard.

Do anyone faces the same issue?

Many Thanks!!
Could you please provide us with the machine type of your R50e? This can be found on the bottom of your machine. It is in the format of xxxx-xxx usually.

Besides the model number, you need to check 3 things. 1- turn on the wifi switch 2- enter bios and turn on the wifi 3- press fn-F5 to see wifi turn on. All 3 you might have off the wifi.

Simplest is to download lenovo system update 4.0 run it and it will auto detect your wifi and download driver. This update is critical as some lenovo drivers are optimize because they uses a few custom hardware tweak. Eg intel matrix driver, graphics etc

Hey guys,

My Thinkpad is R50e 1834-PKA.
The Wifi is working well currently after i downgraded back to windows xp.
It is currently using this driver Intel Pro / Wireless 2200BG Connection.

I ran the system update 4 in Windows 7 but it did not reflect any driver update for my wireless adapter.
I supposed i have to manually install it but i would need advice on which driver would be compatible.

Thanks guys!!

According to Intel, you need to download and install generic Windows 7 drivers for your 2200BG.

Only existing students or staffs from the relevant institution are entitle to the educational price. Alumni are entitle to it too. Other than that are not entitle to the educational price.

But I m not sure why there is a " others" in the application form.

It does make sense. If anybody can also buy , then there would be nobody buying thinkpad during the PC show 2011 already. PC show price is much expensive. So educational price is only for student, staff n alumni only.

does any thinkpad model has IPS screen?

thinking of buying T420s, which seems quite good but reviews said screen quality is a con.

Look as in the quality of the display or are you referring to the cosmetics/physical appearance?

Macbooks use standard displays sourced from the same OEMs as other notebook manufacturers, don't be taken in by those who blindly proclaim that the display on the Macbooks are so much better than their Windows counterparts.

Physical appearance, to each his or her own I guess, hard to comment.

IPS screen recommended for professionals who need colour accuracy, 100% Adobe RGB spectrum as well as good viewing angles. If you want can consider Dell or HP, both offer IPS panels in their mobile workstations.

i am referring to screen quality, not the looks of the laptop.

i am leaning towards thinkpad because i own an ibm and it is really reliable (no time to run to svc ctr) .

my budget is up to 3k. i use it for ms office/web browsing/multimedia but not gaming. Speed (SDD) and reliability is a must. which will you recommend? thanks.

Quality of screen is subjective as sometimes manufacturers source the parts from different manufacturer from time to time.

You have to go to the shop and see it for yourself.

Are there bigger resolution screens for X220? Can I request to upgrade via service centre?
