i have a x230 with a US 2 pin plug (20v, 65w). is it alright to use my previous x200 adaptor (local 3 pin, 20v, 65w) to power the x230??

i noticed that if i use the US 2 pin with a travel adaptor, i feel some static on the lid. the problem is gone if i turn off the power or use the old 3 pin plug.

so far using the old one seems to work, but when i connect the x230 to an external monitor, i get horizontal flickering, which i suspect to be a ground loop problem..... the flickering stops when i unplug the laptop from the socket. but last time no such problem with my x200 leh. weird.....

The cause of the static is due to the lack of earthing point in the 2 pin plug. The 3 pin plug should be ok to use with the original power adapter.

Bought my X1 Carbon i7,8GB 256GB SSD with 3G at Addon.

List price at $3,149 but they give me discount of $100 at $3,049 off with the following freebies:
1 16GB Thumdrive
1 Thinkpad mouse
1 Thinkpad MiniDP to VGA Adapter
1 Thinkpad Laptop bag

Very happy with the purchase.

To be frank, it is much cheaper getting in HK as the same model without 3G is selling on $2,400 in HK. The only reason I am not getting there is that their 3G model only comes with the 4GB ram.

I am looking for a sleeve for the X1. Any recommendation? Lenovo has a sleeve specially for the X1 but Addon did not bring in.

Later on will check out the ultraslim 90w AC/DC Combo but need to buy the 20w powertip for the X1 Carbon

Found that Juzz 1 actually sells the Sleeve and bag set for X1 at $79.

.

However is 20% more ex. than the US webprice. I tried and it fits very well on my X1. Very nicely crafted and elegant. Made specially by Targus for Lenovo.

How long is the X1 carbon battery life?

I'm thinking of the T430u, a cheaper alternative but read that battery life is only about 3 hours plus. All in about SGD800 incl GST and delivery via Comgateway.

My X230 keyboard letter 'A' is not so responsive. Dunno whether warranty recognised here in Spore. If not, I will order a new keyboard. Anyone knows if I can order a lighted keyboard for my non-light keyboard?

Bluetooth lost after windows 8 clean install

I usually left my bluetooth disable. Will turn on when needed using Fn5. When I did a clean install of Windows 8, (bluetooth was on in Fn5), the bluetooth didn't show up in Windows 8.

Since Fn5 hotekey didn't work in Windows 8, I cannot enable it back. Even when it is enable in BIOS, it is still not recognised in Windows 8.

How can I bring it back?

run system update to find out the missing driver

Did that. Not all thinkvantage driver/software are available for windows 8 for x220.

Anyhow, I manage to get it back by booting from my harddisk which is still wondows 7. Fn5 to enable the bluetooth. Switch back to boot from my SSD. Bluetooth is back!

Hi Guys,

Wanted to run a check, how and where do you purchase thinkpads?

I was running through a price check between singapore and united states, it seems that price differs a lot for the T430S.

A basic 1 cost about 1.2k after 1.3 conversion, but in singapore is about 1.8k exclusive of GST.

If we buy from US, do we get international warranty? Most likely i plan to buy the 3yrs add on plan, is this applicable to us as in we can do repairs here?

Regards

Yes, warranty is valid in SG. Just need to produce the US invoice for verification. Have to ask the other bros here how they get their hands on a ThinkPad from the US. Lenovo recently removed the Amazon checkout so it's a little bit more troublesome now. Alternatively can try using a buy for me service at borderlinx or comgateway

Finally the problem of unresponsive keyboard on my X1C is resolved by Lenovo. Called up the technical side 2 days and logged my case. Received the call on the same day afternoon from their service enginner and scheduled the appointment for yesterday on site service.

Engineer came yesterday on appointed time and replaced the faulty keyboard with a new one, problem solved within 15mins.

Amazon payment is back! Now you can make your purchase at Lenovo.com with an Amazon account and ship it to vPost, Comgateway or Borderlinx. Limited to one item purchase though.
