I have been using a X20 for almost 3 years now. Pls add me to the list.

Just to share my view - I think Thinkpads are the best laptops ever. (I have a Vaio 505AFT at the office and it pales in comparison with what Thinkpads offer.)

T30 User for a year, now upgraded to T41.


I've also replaced the original 30GB 4200RPM HDD to a new 60GB 5400 HDD. Spent 3 days migrating the HPA partition to the new drive and copying the rest of the partitions over. Phew.. works at last!

got a ques...how come a 40GD ibm t41 model turn out to be only 30GB shown and available? where the 10GB go to?
even if u count the winxp installation and other ibm programs...it also wont amount to 10GB right?

how to remove or disable that ibm message centre...cos i'll be using limited broadband usage...so doesnt want my laptop to access to internet uncontrolled...

how abt windows messenger? i tried windows component update to uncheck the windows messenger....how after "uninstalling" it seems that this program still trying to connect to the internet...as my zonealarm detects it...
so how to remove it completely?

any other useless ibm programs that's recommended to be removed to save space?

the 10gb shld be reserved for the hidden partition that stores the windows recovery disk and some misc stuff like the rapid restore ultra files...

count urself lucky my 60 gb kena eaten up 20gb after i did 2 backups using rapid restore ultra when the total files inside that partition only takes up 3gb...

My T41 40gb now only 20.3gb available after running Rapid Restore Ultra.

LOL. You got to give and take. Lose the hdd space for rapid restore later. Just a few clicks of the mouse.

mines hot too but only when its plugged into the a/c or when its running intensive apps...

otherwise it shld be just warm...
