just completed a survey for instarem...seems like they are going to either come out with a Free and Premium version (monthly charge) or to have a limitation to local spending on this card..

try to clock as much to citibank now...
if they do such, what would be the difference between them and competitors?

Have to go through the trouble of disputing a credit card charge. Did 2 transactions with a retailer but the transactions were cancelled and both charges are supposed to be refunded. Only one was refunded.

Used Amaze credit with scb card. Hope the Amaze conduit doesn't complicate matters for scb. The main saving grace the retailer has confirmed that the order has been cancelled.

using instarem have this problem with cancellation or wrong charges...have to deal with 3 company --> the retailer, instarem, and your credit card company..

but so far, instarem is prompt with reply..but they should improve on their transaction to show "pending" or "Processed/completed"

without this status, making me super worried even with their reply that it's "pending"

according to istarem, the transaction will be posted even though the retailer does not acknowledge it and if after 10 days it is not acknowledged, the transaction will fall off and a reverse charge will be processed. Seems strange that an unacknowledged charge can be posted.

I still dont understand the business model of Amaze :) I think it is a matter of time, they will stop being "Amazing" :) I dont think this card will last beyond this year.

As far as I can tell, the credit card company can do very little in this case. Any dispute that you raise with them and they in turn with Mastercard/their corresponding bank is a duplicated effort for the dispute you raise with Instarem directly.

You could try talking to the retailer too, but at least in my experiences, the retailer always says that their bank will talk directly to our bank (Instarem in this case). Or that if the transaction is cancelled/refused at the point of sale, it may take a few days but whenever that it does get processed, the funds will be returned to our bank.

I agree that an interim status update based on where the transaction is or the funds are would be useful, but I suspect that the Instarem's own system doesn't update that often.

ya..but the problem is instarem charge directly to our bank, and this completed/confirmed even earlier than the actual transaction in instarem...

Oh so the merchant hasn't confirmed the transaction but instarem will post regardless?

yeah, happened a few times for my hotel booking that charge a deposit...usually if charged directly to normal credit card, it's put on hold...but instarem charge directly..and have to wait for refund for quite a while...like up 10 working days after you check out of hotel..

as many said, instarem works similarly like a debit card. if you charge deposits to a debit card, funds would be deducted from your account immediately as well. hence its the same concept when they post it immediately

Be careful to top up your Amaze wallet. My topup failed, but Instarem refused to refund by claiming not received.

What the use of topping up wallet anyway? Isn't it is better to use a linked card?
