Some incompatible issue of 12th gen with concerns

Hybrid architecture has its own set of problems with older games that aren't coded to recognise that. But most bios right now has a legacy mode where you can disable E-cores on the fly by pressing the scroll lock key. It will park the E-cores and run on P-Cores only. Press scroll lock again and your E-cores activate.

Not necessarily. Always good to flash to the latest one for normal users. For example, the new 1601 Bios from Asus supports RaptorLake already.

Wow, minimums on 1440p seems to be a great improvement with the increased cache! IPC improvements seems small but multicore improved quite a bit with the additional 8 E-cores. New CPUs will cost 20% more due to inflation and logistical challenges which has been confirmed by Intel.

I'm gonna use back my Z690 so I probably might. Plus my 12900k isn't a great bin. Not worth to jump on Z790 as it's end of life platform before Meteor Lake releases.

How can I check? I ordered a Z690 msi tomahawk and a new 12600k last week. Should be just a plug and play and fresh Windows install?

You can go MSI website and check your model there it will be under BIOS. Put it on a thumbstick and flash.
Then XMP and whichever other basic settings you need to set.

Yes it is plug and play but latest version for average user will always be good as there are improvements to the stability and performance due to the latest CPU microcode if any. Most of the new bios today are already having 13th Gen Raptorlake support.

But I would think being in a hot climate, we are on the back foot already since many of those people are rocking sub 20 ambients. Even if you blast A/C, you can only realistically get to around ~24 deg Celsius.

Win11 and 12th Gen is necessary in order to use the e-cores correctly.
So far Win 11 and 12th Gen seems perfectly fine for me. No major issues.
Most of the issues were in the last year or so since Win11 launched.

Very smooth and snappy in terms of performance, has better experience using win 11 than win 10.

Only downside is w11 ux is counter intuitive at times, biggest issue I have is the removal of click and drag feature, which they are going to add back for the next big update.

I had a fresh reinstall of win10 as i replaced my system with 12th gen intel recently. Am hoping the upgrade would not cause any issues and that the current programs I have will still work well.

Windows 10 does not schedule your e-cores on your 12th Gen properly. The new scheduler for 12th Gen is only available on Windows 11.
