Do you all think that a 12400f is good enough for 1440p, 144hz gaming? Looking to see what to pair my new RX6800 with, not looking at OCing.

Hmm but won't a 12400f consume a lot less power, run cooler and cost a lot less too? Is the 13600k that much better for 1440p gaming?

his test system use rtx 3080.
its better for some games but most of them quite negligible. 200$ for 10 fps, might as well buy better gpu

If you're looking for value then 12400F is better I guess

Ok think I will get the 13600kf so that I can always upgrade to a new gfx without being bottlenecked by cpu in the future. However, should I get top b660 mobo like a msi tomahawk, or spend a bit more to get a basic z690 like a gigabyte z690 UD? Don't plan on OCing

If you dont want to be bottlenecked by CPU, 13600k will be a better choice. It's not very hard to bottleneck, esp when you are doing high refresh rate gaming with high-end GPU in the future.

Better to OC, but not OC-ing isn't a crime. You can settle with B660 boards as long as the feature set fits your requirements.

can ask the shop to flash for you. at least Dynacore helped with mine.

some brands got bios support as early as july. so new stocks will already support 13 gen.

Bought a 13900K during the sale period, thought I'd give it a shot. Sadly, it was just slightly below average bin and in games it only provided a 5-10% boost in performance, fully OCed vs my 12900k OCed.

Managed to bring it up to 6ghz single core, 5.7 ghz all core. Ecores are at 4.5ghz and ring cache is at 5ghz. 1.35v LLC5 msi, under full load it's at 1.31-1.32v.

Full synthetic load is around 350-380w, with it being around 92c with 30c coolant. Gaming load is between 50c-60c. Coolant temp is around 30c.

Ran some benches on it as well, as expected, it's a stellar performer. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to stabilise a Hynix adie tune for it so this is all on Hynix mdie, 7000c30.

As expected, its quite a beastly CPU which is 100% not a necessity. Still, it was pretty fun playing around with it chip has since been sold, I'll probably wait for the KS and swap to the z790 platform for better ram oc.

when @stock (1.29-1.3v iirc) run heavens, load is around 75-79 degree

after i undervolt vcore 1.25 run heavens, load is around 64-66 degree

no performance drop overall.

trying to research more on adaptive method in mean time. hope more people can share

Yea trying during weekend again. Fixed voltage will drop quite few percentage of my fps.

I don’t play Battlefield cant advise you on that.
