this refresh is pretty much useless, was hoping for CKD tech to be implemented but they did not package it. 14900k = slightly better 13900KS. Requiring less voltage to reach the same freq, experienced tuners probably will be running 6.2ghz pcore. Newer boards like apex encore would allow for 8600 ram.

14700K if they price it well could be pretty good, especially if the freq is bumped up and a good bin can hit 6ghz. Otherwise...it's a forgettable release.

I looked around few weeks back but the CKD sticks don't seem to be available for retail.

Most relevant slide: P-cores locked to 5Ghz with E-cores disabled.
Identical Cinebench 2024 single core scores from 12th to 14th Gen.
So the only difference is chip quality, i.e. the CPU voltages for the frequency.

not really, the higher end 13th gen had significantly more e cores than 12th gen and more cache too. but other than 14700k, 14th gen really is just 13th gen.

what a way to end the core i branding though.

Stock perhaps will lose in some titles that benefit from cache. Tuned, it's an easy win no problem.

I only worry about the next 8800X3D price that's why i am angry at intel .

At this rate AMD can charge w/e the **** they want, I mean they already do so, now its gonna get worse

I think the writing is on the wall on the minor stepping change. Notebook side, LPDDR5x is already at 7500MHz JEDEC but Intel isn’t certifying it on the RPL IMC and keeping it at 6000-6400 MHz depending on the capacity used.

Don’t think Intel is going to extend the product life even further. The memory support on LGA 1700 has grown so tremendously that it makes next gen performance projections look increasingly underwhelming.

There are ppl coming from old gen ma, systems from 3 years+ old

Although 13900k users already have 14900k a year ago.

similar pattern. best is to skip if not in a hurry. refresh is not always that great anyway, unless you are getting a new PC. Also depending on what you are doing with your PC, if for gaming only, go with AMD with the X3D processor. unless you want to do adobe stuff, then getting the 14700K is more practical.

Actually, I heard users have a better experience with Adobe applications when the e-cores are disabled, apart from rendering times, of course. Recently someone here said the same thing.
