Going to buy a 13700K and drop inside my MSI Z590 Ace when it launch.

ah yes engineering samples are totally 100% the same as retail units.

are they at least the same clocks as the offical spec?
Big differences between ES and Retail units.
ES units and Retail units behave differently in terms of overclock and IMC performance with respect to voltage required and used. And don't forget that once retail units are out, board makers are ONLY going to tune and support retail CPUs. So either you figure out which bios works best for ES early and stick with that if you wanna keep that CPU or go retail and enjoy the microcodes and bios updates that will frequently come out for performance and stability improvements.

Lower specced actually, retail units will be able to run higher speed and better bins.
higher speed means will run hotter and less efficiently, so cannot just anyhow claim those based on es.

how to know when independent reviews are not out yet?

My advice will be to take all leaks with a pinch of salt, no matter who it is from. Simply owning hardware is completely different from having the skill to perform accurate analytics.

Having early samples on hand simply means that the leaker is related to an associated corp that allows them to get their hands on it. It says nothing about their skill in analytics or ability to create and follow a proper testing methodology, it could have been done in a highly scuffed manner for all we know.

Up to you lah lol. I lazy argue. Just know enough that it will push ahead of zen4 and a good enough perf increase from 12th gen.

Performing accurate analytics not even a hard skill to develop. I don't even follow most major tech sites/youtubers because most of their setups not even configured correctly to keep up with the times, and they ignore scaling past stock perf, either via undervolting or overclocking.

Analytics u say is easy but how come they never teach you not to draw conclusions with sample size of 1?

Updated in the first attempt on my new 12 gen built and encountered BSOD. Anyway, the new system wasn’t stable in the first place.

Decided to create a new boot media with 22H2 and reinstall, working fine and monitoring now.

Thanks. Maybe I'll just wait, don't really want to install a fresh ver.

Sorry ah, slow news but holy crap.

I haven even smell the 13900k yet

Intel Core i9-13900KS "Raptor Lake", The World's First 6 GHz CPU, Launches In Early 2023

According to Intel, the 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs were never officially planned for launch until 2 years ago when the plans for the Meteor Lake desktop slipped a bit. As such, the engineering team decided to offer an intermediate CPU family, now known as Raptor Lake, to be launched after Alder Lake and optimize the foundations set by Alder Lake, Intel's first Hybrid CPU design. The result is a massive bump in clock speeds which makes the Raptor Lake family the first to feature a 6 GHz CPU and also achieve overclocking frequencies beyond 8 GHz after more than a decade. The first 8 GHz confirmation was reported by us a few weeks back which you can read more about here.

You think only 1 sample of ES is being tested worldwide?

People who are already testing these CPUs and we have indications on what these numbers are. Take it with a grain of salt or you can just wait for the reviews to be out and make your own decision.

Considering Zen 4 is basically a die shrunk Zen 3 with more cache and higher clocks, I think Raptor lake has a good chance of outperforming Zen 4. Zen 3 made big progress by combining the cache for the CCXs instead of having 2x16MB pools. We don't get that again, so there won't be a big performance jump like there was with Zen 2 to Zen 3.

RPL is also getting a clockspeed and cache size boost, and if the 12900ks is anything to go off of (mature 10nm), then we might be looking at 5.5ghz boost being the norm for the 13700k or 13900k and now Intel is likely to release a 13900KS.

Zen 4's boost will come from increased clockspeeds and cache sizes. Going from 7nm to 5nm allowed them to double cache and keep the package around the same as Zen 3, so that's where the performance boost is coming from. AVX 512 support takes die space as well.

RPL is getting a cache boost, a clockspeed boost and more gracemont cores. 10nm is a power hog, but it's mature enough to churn out 5.5ghz now, and now a KS sku will bump it up even more. 8 RPL P-cores will most likely outperform Zen 4 core with Zen 4 3D matching and outperforming it in some instances much like now.

So yes, basic analytics show that Raptor Cove will outperform zen 4 cores overall. 8 strong cores are all you need in gaming, and the other 16 e-cores will take care of the multithread, so I'm thinking that a 13900K will beat the 7950X on both single and multithread. Intel is also a generation ahead of AMD when it comes to IMC stability, and motherboard vendors have have experience with Z690, so Z790 should be a solid introduction for people wanting to upgrade. Early adopters will probably have a harder time with AMD than Intel as well because they're starting fresh with a new arch, chipset, ram and pcie standard. And you do not have the convenience of DDR4 options from AMD to save you this headache unlike Intel which have Z690 DDR4 versions. Even the new Z790 has DDR4 versions if you still want you use back your RAM and jump on the Intel camp.

Lmao it's not like CPUs have feelings that you have to do means testing of thousand of samples like human responses. They're hard binned to meet certain parameters even by QS and ES stages. Account standard deviation and it's still a good enough lead.

But you know what, fine take whatever I said with a grain of salt ofcourse. Perhaps by some stretch retail would be different, but I hope not :)

Some links to these numbers? Matique claim he had unreleased ES numbers but never show hand. I cant seem to find anything except Intel's reports. Which like AMD reports should be view with caution

These numbers are not to be released. You either take it with a grain of salt or wait for official reviews. Why should we post screenshots of numbers if it gets testers with ES samples into problems of breaking NDA?

If you want link to numbers, I advise you to wait for the official numbers.

Well for eg claimed here there is lower power draw but everything i have seen from leaks and official announcement is higher power draw. Stuff like this just makes me wonder
