What about the experience for moving iPhone to iPhone for you? Would love to hear.

i used the quick setup the moment you switched on your new phone. just place your old iphone near to your new one and it detects and starts immediately. total process between the transferring took about an hour so you can't do anything on your phones.

after that, your old phone would indicate that everything is transferred. you can continue using the old phone while the new phone now goes to restore and you'll see the normal apple logo with a progress bar at the bottom. now this process, you have to be patient! i wasn't initially and wanted to exit it and gave up. this process with the apple logo took close to 2 hours (maybe because i'm using a 512gb phone and had about 200gb of data trasferring).

it was all worth it because when the process finishes, almost everything is like the way it was except for a few things like face id, wallet (i think), some notification preferences.

it's like you never changed phone.

I used more Android phones than iPhones and even those with 90hz screen. Despite the flaws of iPhones, it’s fluidity cannot be beaten at all.

I'm not even talking about a 90hz screen normal oled Vs LCD and the LCD jitters. Really anybody with an android try putting both phones side by side and notice the fluidity

Maybe it's something in my head but once I started noticing jutters, it's persistently there. I tried my wife's iPhone X and I can see the exact same jutter
Doesn't happen on android though

For those of you who don't believe me, swipe the home page slowly, look at the moment the animation starts happening, you'll see the icons move a few pixels, stop for a while then jump a larger number of pixels, it seems to do this once or twice. Never happened on my mate 20

Another thing to try, inside an application pull up the multi tasking bar. There is a point where you start to see the other opened windows, there is a persistent jutter there as well

Coming from android, I don't frequently close my apps, so maybe having a lot of background apps running will cause lag but it doesn't happen on android, I don't expect iPhones to have such lag

Why in the world would you need a internet speed meter. The wifi quick switch is in control Center. Press and hold on the networking panel. Widgets depends on the apps if they want to do it and honestly you don’t need it.

Yeah it is “muted” I rather say it is true to life and not something some over saturated and completely voided of shadows night mode.

The stutters shouldn’t be happening but it is a fresh phone so likely indexing. You should leave it in the charger and connected to wifi over night to let it sync everything and index.

Then again. The iphone is not for you. The phone is to be simple for user. Not cluttered with junk that you don’t need.

When you click on a link sometimes you don't know if there is a network issue, the internet speed meter on the top will tell you if something is taking up bandwidth in the background or perhaps it's just downloading the webpage slowly

Don't think it's indexing cause I first noticed it at 3pm today and it's 9 now, I can still see the jutter

I'm not saying that it's a deal breaker or is it very obvious but things just feel more smooth on my previous mate 20
I'm meeting my friends tomorrow, I'll see if other androids are the same but I've tested iPhone 11 and iPhone x, both have this weird animation jutter

Right. So it’s the experience where your old iPhone is a carbon copy on your new iPhone. Same here for my iCloud restore. Had to set up some of the security sensitive stuff.

Yea.. no that is what progress bar is for or the activity indicators. Only Android you might be concern about taking up bandwidth in the background. It is usually and mostly just downloading slowly. Rarely things are allowed to download in the background and even if it does, it will be throttled down to minimize impact.

There is also no way in heck that the it stutters. On iOS system gestures will always have priority over apps and it mostly the apps that stutters. In VERY VERY rare cases the system stutters.

Apple TV+ will launch on November 1. I believe it will be done on the system, Apple will know if it is a new device or not based on Activation date. It should work for all the same.

i think its something like lcd vs led, seeing a lcd by itself the screen is great and the colors are all great
seeing a led alone also gives the same results, great but not better than lcd
it is only when you put a led beside the lcd, you'll see that the difference is actually drastic

when using the iphone alone, i don't really notice the jutter unless i go looking for it but using the iphone 11 beside the mate 20, there is almost a night and day difference
its like when you play a game at 28 fps, that's the iphone.
on the mate 20, the game runs at 60fps, nothing wrong with it

This is probably because of the new Location API. Just go to the app settings and change the Location Privacy to "Ask". Re-launch the app and select "Only use while using the app"

Recording slow mo video of the screen isn't the best way to show stutters. Cause it will look stuttery as long as you record faster than what the display can refresh at 60FPS. SO recording at 60 FPS is the best way to do so.

That article is dated Jan 25, 2012 and it the article is a click bait one to milk views really, I rather trust that Google Intern who worked along Google Android over some guy somewhere else. Being a Dev for iOS and Android really google is very very limited to push performance with Java and it currently rendering pipe line.

The easiest way to see dropped frames on android and see it first hand, enable developer options and turn on Profile GPU rendering: On screen as bars

It gives you a quick visual representation of how much time it takes to render the frames of a UI window relative to the 16-ms-per-frame benchmark (60FPS). Any bar above that line is not smooth. Oh and don't do it when Android is charging/plugged in.
