Ye for show only for now.

Why not? The processor is more than capable. Just get a powerbank for times you need the battery
2-3 charges per day doesn't really mean a shorter battery lifespan. And if one always game using their phone might want to consider getting a game pad so your fingers won't be blocking the display.
End of the day, 12 mini can still game, just depend on the game you are playing and how long you intend to play. If you are a gamer on phone, then i would suggest getting the 12 pro max. It will give a better gaming experience than the 12 mini.
2 - 3 charges a day will directly impact battery lifespan.. I'm talking about battery longevity during ownership, not daily battery life even though daily battery life is directly linked to battery lifespan and capacity over time. remember all lithium batteries have a limited recharge cycle..
actually it depends. charging 2-3 times a day so long the battery level is between 30-80% it actually still is quite okay. the worst of the worst treatment to battery is to let it die.

Beware 18w won’t give you the 15w for MagSafe if you’re into that

If a battery capacity is small, you will need more charges. Nothing much you can do about it too.
The reason for keeping it between 30%~80% is not about the charge cycles. It’s about lithium batteries experiencing more stress when in a fully charged or discharged state, so you’re keeping it within its comfortable range by not going to either ends of the charge %. That is also why Apple introduced their optimised charging feature that keeps batteries at 80% until needed.charging to 80% will also accumulate the charge cycle based on the frequency of getting it from say 20% to 80%, just that instead of counting as 1 cycle straight away, it takes about 2 charges to get to 1 cycle.
the fact is that bigger batteries in the bigger phones will need to be recharged less in the same use case as compared to smaller sized battery, which leads to difference in recharge cycle and lifespan..
actually not true. there is a gap in your logic
small battery capacity != more charges
small phone will typically have smaller battery as available space is an engineering constrain. but because it is small. the phone is just a phone.
the phone is not a phone+tablet+laptop
make sense bo? you need to take into account usage models
one of the best benefit of apple devices is "cheap" battery replacement.
so don't lose sleep over battery issues
however a few habits does preserve battery lifespan
1) battery is most stressed in fully depleted or charged state.
so ideally never let it stay in fully discharged or fully charge state.
- i typical charge in the morning from 20%+ to 80%+ (charging over night not really good for battery as it stays in 100% state for quite a while)
- i do a short 15mins top up in the evening if needed
2) heat deteriorates battery condition
fast charging really heats up battery (no i am not interested at magsafe at all)
- i use fast charging from 18W apple charger only when needed. also fast charging from pd powerbank is where i use fast charging most. else i AVOID fast charging if i have time.
- best charging time and heat balance from apple 10w/12w chargers from the ipad. the 5V 2.4A charging is relatively fast and phone barely heats up. this is my preferred charging
my 11pro battery health is at 96% after a year.
the worst battery health on apple device is from my ip7 with apple battery case. cos the battery case keeps the ip7 battery at 100% for prolonged periods of time. it is on it's 2nd battery change (3rd battery since new) in 4 short years!
My 11 pro is 100% after 1 year. I charge using wireless overnight.
