Furthermore, shouldn’t esim’s hardware cost much lesser for telco than giving out a physical sim?
For postpaid users the cost might not be that great, since the issuance of the SIM card is about once every 1-2 years or more, or during signups or recontract. But the most should be coming from prepaid SIM cards.
My opinion/suggestion:
Tourists or people can be issued with the QR code from the telco to install/download the eSIM profile.
The dynamic QR code can be created/generated and display on the CSO’s computer or tablet. Makes the carbon footprint even lower than printing QR codes.
The download of eSIM via an app might not work for tourists or prepaid, since there isn’t proper verification of identity.
You are totally wrong, Singtel already not replacing new SIM card for re-contract. I have been using the same SIM card for at least 3 times of re-contract, 6 years.
Singtel won’t bring in e sim de
It is too much hassle for them, because customer will keep changing phone
Someone asked them in Facebook where is eSIM ? They whipped out one of their standard replies as usual. The irony, Singtel claims that it is able to bring out more of your Apple Devices. But withholds eSIM implementation on the iPhone and iPads.
