I think this is the lowest latency I can get my system under air cooling, 9000C40 tight, I don't think C38 will be stable.

Things will only get better once I get my hands on MORA 600, the local distributor told me theres a 12+ week leadtime to get stock. All the time I spent waiting for a potential easter discount has been erased by the orange man now that EUR went up and even after a potential discount it would only match the price I could've gotten 1 month prior.

That being said, has anyone experienced water chiller setup for PC? I did some simple research the dew point is around 18 degrees assuming I set AC to 24-28, so I would want around 2-3 degrees buffer to reduce chance of condensation, so that is probably only around 5-10 degrees better than a MORA 600...

Great interview with the Intel overclocking guy. They cover alot about development of DDR5 and confirms one thing which we have already suspected that the chip tier (Ultra 5, 7 and 9) doesn't affect memory controller anymore. Since the chip is no longer monolithic, the variance between the chip tier and quality of memory controller is the same silicon lottery as it could be any random memory controller tile.

- Arrow Lake memory controller is not the bottleneck right now, its the DRAM quality and CKD

Man, if this Bartlett Lake is a pure 10 or 12 core CPU, it will breathe life into my Z790 Apex for another generation. Only thing is how good it will be for gaming and the memory controller quality. I hope it has at least a good memory controller to at least let me run the same 8600 DDR5 with no issues. Interesting if the CPU turns out to be good.

Bartlett is not socket 1851 I feel because the processors are expected to utilize Raptor Cove cores, though rumors suggest Intel might consider backporting Lion Cove architecture to the 1700 platform.

Arrow Lake will get a refresh so I don't see why they will need 2 entirely different products on the Z890 platform. If Intel is smart and learnt from their dumbass mistakes that Z890 + Arrowlake was a colossal and embarrassing failure, they would actually get something done for Z790 owing to the fact that those on those platforms aren't actually upgrading but holding on.

So it actually makes sense to extend the life of that platform than coming out with a new refresh platform because Arrowlake essentially broke Intel. They don't have the cards right now. But yes, Arrowlake will get a new refresh but it won't be a worthy upgrade unless the gains are phenomenal. Intel's refreshes has always been about node refinement not so much gains. At least until they move to 18A. But we don't know the progress on that and sure as hell Arrowlake refresh won't be on 18A. They are just gonna focus on the stupid AI NPU which isn't gonna do jackshit for the majority of users. Pantherlake on 18A will define Intel's existence. Past that, I think it will be questionable to how long Intel will be able to compete. Brand loyalty and reliability are no longer factors Intel can use to justify.

oh well thats when I'll switch back to ASUS again, ASRock isn't bad though but ASUS just gets more updates. Nick Shih disappeared in the Taichi OCF community again lol.

Well, if flagship GPUs ain't as crappy as the 5090, I'll finally get a new rig with either 6090 or AMD's 6090-killer + whichever is superior in gaming between Nova and Zen 6. Hope my 1070 FE survives another 2 more years ... 😅

This caught my attention
Holthaus said that Intel’s goal is to bring 70 percent of all the silicon used in Panther Lake in-house, or manufactured at Intel’s fabs. With Nova Lake, Intel 2026 processor architecture, Intel will try to move even more onto Intel foundries. “When you look at the aggregate of Nova Lake, we will build more wafers on Intel process than we are on Panther Lake,” Holthaus said.

Considering Panther Lake is already 70% of all silicon used and Nova Lake is even more than that. This effectively dispels the rumors that Nova Lake uses TSMC 2nm on the Compute tile as thats the largest part of the entire silicon.
