Is it easy to find the following food in Tokyo Japan (Shinjuku) and are they normal price? (like 6-20 sgd)

1. Tempura meal , not those meals with tempura as sides but tempura as the main dish. Be it vegetable tempura or prawn tempura or mix.

2. Non raw meat sushi.

3. Japanese curry (prefer chicken but pork is fine too)
4. Takoyaki

Additional question:
Are those bento from 7-11 or any convenience store nice?

I just want to try those food that can be found in sg and compare it with japanese version to see if there really are any difference or not. O

most food joints in shinjuku ( outside of dept stores ) are mostly run by PRC selling Japanese food....

Thus if u gonna compare..... U wil b disappointed......

U shd try to explore area like shibuya, ueno, tokyo station area, asakusa area.....

For the above kind of food that u wanna try in Tokyo..... ( close to your budget kinda meals )

The ramen in Tokyo u shd also try n compare those that is in spore..... ( it a big difference )

Not true. You mean foods from eateries are not authentic?! I've never heard of dishes sold only in departmental stores are the real deals. There's prices to pay for if you're into authentic dishes. The super high end restaurants to the street ones like ramen. It all depends on your budget.

I meant if u really no choice n have to eat in shinjuku, try to avoid shops that r run by PRC

The food really bad.... (Esp ramen by PRC students)

Tempura u can try ten-ichi at Isetan shinjuku ( at food level, not supermarket level )

There also have few famous branches for tonkatsu, soba etc......

Few days ago, Hilton hotel Japan just had flash sale......

Hilton tokyo was 17000 yen per night.

Japan is quite big... Different parts of japan serve different style of ramen....

The soup base itself already got few types......

The handmade noodle also got few types......

The topping used is different too.....


It will be easier for the bros n sis to recommend to u...

At the popular ones the queues are very long. Have to go early or be prepared to spend time queuing. Not for those with packed itinerary.

Agreed with u about the quene.... But if the timing is their lunch n dinner hours....

Ramen shop in Japan they usually open till late like 1am.....

Thus ramen is more like our supper if we can't sleep early.....

Or we need hot soupy food before we sleep.....

This kinda timing will just nice for us tourists since hotel is nearby....

Once u step in n see not many Japanese eating inside......

Jus turn n walk out..... Their culture is ok with u walking out.....

Thus no worries jus enjoy yourself.... It your tour vocation.....

Most of these PRC shop are concentrated in shinjuku area.....

Other parts do have..... But not as many as in shinjuku.....

If u see many Japanese in quene..... Likely is of certain standard....

If u like cafe n coffee etc..... Can try area like hiro-O and Nakameguro....

Their pricing is quite reasonable...... And the mood is relax n peaceful.....

As for food in tokyo or kyoto. It best budget yourself 3000yen dinner per pax....

Osaka will be much cheaper......

It value for money... Most of it is like eating a 90+ sgd per pax kinda meal in spore.....

And the quality n serving portion is of very good standard.......

Lunch special will be cheaper in most places in Tokyo.....

Can get a good value set meal below 2000yen..... ( beer is standard, about 500 to 650 yen )

Lol. Perhaps just once to see how it is like for petty blue. One man's likes could be another man's poison. But yes, the reviews by the locals generally were average and the chef seemed to them more media-hungry than doing better in his dishes. Not cheap either and you need to make a reservation online.
