Japan sim card?

Just to share my current experience.

Now on Shinkansen from Osaka towards Tokyo. Using Ubigi eSim (showing softbank netwrok) on a Pixel.

Streaming of YouTube is quite laggy. A video of 20 minutes needs to wait for 4 to 5 times of loading in between video.

Was using ICC physical card when here in May, do remember better connection then this.

Of course, the current visitor crowd is more than in May. Maybe this cause the poorer reception.

how's the speed when using navitime for finding routes?

strange i thought ubigi uses NTT network?
ICC physical available on KDDI or softbank so which one u used?

Webpage loading is acceptable. Only Instagram, YouTube etc is what will lag.

From what I can see they now have Superroam 50GB ($20) and Superroam max ($25) compared to when I last used it.

Superroam 50GB seems to be for mostly Malaysia and 5 other “regular” countries.

Superroam max covers most of the countries with 10gb of roaming. This is what I have used before Ubigi.

maybe testing on shinkansen not a good idea since it going as high speed so mobile keep changing cellular station. also rural area connections might not be so good.

I was at Ueno station today and got a bad connection from Ubigi
Simba on another phone is working fine.

Other than that, mostly showing LTE and a few times H when in Shinjuku.

Just a mini comparison:

Simba is decent.

Echo networks - esim from lazada /shoppee quite good too.

Starhub's prepaid via softbank, quite cmi. In Tokyo okay. But in kanazawa, keep disconnecting. Esp indoors. Maciam tpg last time in Singapore.

bloody hell, bought an ICC SIM card via Shopee and paid extra for expedited delivery, but it is now behind by at least 2 days.

as a result, I will end up flying off without receiving it.

just cancel & ask for refund. look for another. try luck in airport in case they got some spare for sales. u should have free wifi in airport & train.

ok at least it's working. just enjoy your holidays

if u get another from shopee/lazada, may not even work. and u need to waste half day reaching & troubleshooting with support guys, that's even more costly (time lost)
