Just came back from Mook.

Went to JH to try out Roxanne only. Jerry said that Roxanne is capable of delivering JH 13 and 16 SQ by adjusting the bass.

Adjusting the bass is really fun. Switching between vocals and soft rock and rock lets me enjoy the music from different perspective. The bass really makes some of the bass genre songs come alive. Isolation is very good. I cant hear anything from someone talking beside me.

However, like another HWZer said, the high really hits my ear. I was a W4R user and enjoyed its sweetness and smoothness in vocal songs. Didnt find this in Roxanne. I'm not sure if the soundstage is narrower or not relative to Fitear. The high doesnt seem to be there. It just hit my ear and I had to lower down the volume. I went to compare with Fitear MH334, 335DW/SR TG334, the treble is much better and it doesnt hit my ear as harshly as Roxanne. Fitting wise, for my case, Fitear demo sets are comfortable and excellent fit. Isolation is very good too.

While listening to 335DW, my heart was skipping a beat. I was wondering did I save $400 or wasted $2000 as seems like Fitear seems to fit my preference more than Roxanne given that the former has better treble controls, wider soundstage in the high. I really hope the SQ I tried on Roxanne demo will not be the one I'm receiving in Jan/Feb.

If there are some ways to improve the treble, I feel Roxanne has much more potential vs the Fitear. And Roxanne, you are so HUGE!

P.S. Even though I tried several High end IEMS, it has really put a nail in the coffin for myself. There is no The One IEM that plays all type of music at the best possible settings. Can it happen in the next 10 years? I wonder...

Yup that thing is HUGE. And I thought S-EM6 was already big, this monster was jutting out of my ear for good 5mm.
I prefer warm sigs with smooth highs, and did find some tracks on the verge of sibiliance with the Roxanne - in particularly this track which i always use to test

When I left the venue and play the same song again on the S-EM6, the missing treble somehow took away the enjoyment I had with the Roxanne.

Went back to test again today and I talk to jh regard the high hit my ear, he said it's design to have bass so he suggest to tune the base to at least 2 o'clock which similar base to JH13. I find it's better but still there, I adjust the EQ to reduce the 4khz feq to -2 on my AK120, it almost gone. he also say 1st batch will start deliver tomorrow I'm cross my finger and see if I can get end of next week. And find the best EQ, I still very lean toward MH334, very relax for listening very smooth, very wide sound stage, tested the 335SR as well, most base more forward, 435 is really not for me probably it's lemon. Hope the CIEM Roxanne will suite me else I may really need to get MH334. I think I wasted 2k lol

Btw I tough high is like 10-20k? I don't know why 4k reduce that. Btw I newbie ya.

Only 100 buck different if no discount so I give Roxanne a chance, should compare CIEM against the mh334.

Maybe need hours of burn in as I feel my C435 also sound much much better as compared to the demo there.

Hmm I don't think Roxanne is flat? But I also don't know what it mean flat haha. It has bass, treble and quite very forward sound to me but not smooth as fitear and I don't know if the fitting cause that. MH334 also had better fitting for me. 435 don't fit my ear well maybe that why the sound not as good and one of the staff say we use wrong track to test lol. Both 334 and 435 are not burn in yet? If that so, 334 should be better after burn in as well.. Maybe really need compare uncle Wilson copy.. Buy even after compare and confirm it's better will you dare to purchase? I mean I don't know if they change the design or material a bit cause different sound?

With Roxanne (or any CIEM for that matter), i think we need remind ourselves on whether our set-ups are geared towards it or is there a need to rethink and review our gear/sources.

Lossless file formats sound great, though where do they originate from?
An mp3 may be reformatted to WAVE, doesn't make it better.
And this happens when the files are from non original source.
So we need to make sure the music files, even in lossless are REAL lossless files.

Next is recording. Even with a real lossless file, if the recording is subpar, it will still sound bad.
An mp3 ripped from a very good recording will sound better than a wave file ripped from a poor recording.

And also the gear pairing portion. If using Silver in very chain of set-up is going to be setting up for some potential sibilance, even on very good recordings. So there may be a need to relook at this portion.

Gear synergy. The best music players and the best earpieces may not offer the best performance. It's not rocket science but it does require some experience, being truthful to yourself on what you like to hear and throw out the hype on how good that component is in your set-up.

Once we've done our due diligence on the above, if the sound still isn't for you, time to look elsewhere.

to add on to what Kenz bro said.

it is also important to know what are the manufacturer's objective and aims in how they tune their CIEMs for their specific group of clients.

As long as I find smooth listening can Liao :p

smooth listening you can look towards Noble K10 and Rooth LSX. IMO, these are REALLY smooth iems. To me, the Roxannes incite a more lively sound and out of the world soundstage. Jerry makes IEMs for rock stars. Really. :s13:
