I cannot walk awhile and start running/jogging again. The moment i start walk to me is consider done liao.
maybe can start by ignoring distance, closer to 2.5km, ignore looking at watch or phone and carry on running as you won't know u reached 2.5km

Been watching Sg Open Track and Field Championships. One thing I noticed is that Sg short distance (100, 200, 400, 800) athletics scene quite happening (a lot of competition). In middle distance, the numbers drop quite a lot. By the time get to 5-10k, barely anyone liao. 10k can easily get podium by showing up for the race.

Seems to confirm my thoughts from back in 2018 when I did my 1.8km uni residential college road relay and came in last as the anchor leg.

A lot of speedsters from other sports or short distance athletes don't transit up the distance, possibly because the weather here too hot/humid or time constraints (work, etc.). Still the same in 2024. Although now, you've more masters athletes doing well in the long distance (>5km) scene.

Henry Yong He running sub 17 min for the 5km and Melvin Wong running 34 flat for the 10km. Both turning 41 this year.

Got any app find jogging partners or not
Prefer to do solo running 85% of my runs. I join running club once every 2 weeks to 1 month just to see where I am at or whether I improve or not.

Had a look at Henry's team SMTFA, the team actually sends masters athletes to compete in international masters competitions. Good for those looking to still be competitive later on.

Seen Melvin train at Ngee Ann Poly before, he usually run quite fast. Also saw Romaine Soh did her training there before setting PBs in both her 800/1500, winning the 800m today. Looking at her training, was expecting her to do well since she was averaging in the 70s range for her 400s and keeping up with the guys.

For the woman side, Romaine Soh is still improving in her 800/1500 at 30. Goh Chui Ling set the NR for 1500 at 31 last year, currently runs up to 10k. Haven't convert to running HM yet.

At that level, it's not easy to PB because training becomes more intense, so higher injury risk. Also, older age need to be more careful with training intensity.
got talk to the chiobus in FFRC? :D
Just leave them be, a lot of the chiobus are attached or married liao. Can see the ring on their finger.

I go there only if their training matches what I am doing, usually on Thursday evenings. They will go Astons to eat afterwards, but I will go home for dinner instead.

Saturday long run not a good timing for me since it's early in the morning. But usually more chiobus will go for this. Eat their breakfast at some coffee shop after the run.

Their long run pace is also too slow. They added a bit of twist in their long run and did 3km hard effort (4.05-4.10/km) in the long run, but the fastest guy ran 5.08/km over 15-16km. I preferred progressive long run where I step up the final few km, they confirm buay tarhan :ROFLMAO:
