Today I am a Balega convert

Have been running my standard 10ks, but after like 5k the side of my foot (near the little toe joint) keeps rubbing the upper, resulting in pain and numbness

Tried using the cheaper socks - kiprun toe socks, saucony bolt etc., nothing really helped. This week my Balegas came and bam, no friction at all throughout my run

10/10 totally worth it (even though it's pretty ex at 20+ a pair).
Balegas are good. I have a few pairs myself. My best pairs of running socks are Nike’s. Bought from them from Bras Basah last time but strangely no longer for sale.

I am upset. I did not manage to finish my HCM marathon today.

I accidentally followed the HM route at the halfway point. I was supposed to go straight at one point but I u turned instead. THERE WAS NO ROUTE MARKER at all throughout the entire race, how can you organize a race without route marking is mind boggling. And after the first 10 km through the scenic city the route went to the outskirts of city and it was literally pitch dark with the only lights coming from phones flashlight and passing motorcycles. This was the worst organized marathon I had participated in, not going to do it anymore in the future.

First 10 km was pretty scenic though and I passed by most of major tourist attractions. But yeah, for almost 10 km i was running in the dark and I saw a few runners tripping over the cones. Could not even enjoy the vietbus; anyway actually here few pretty ones.

Yes, if they had put route markers I would have turned back once I realize my mistake. I only realized I was on the wrong route 3 km before finishing line.

Coughs.......maybe just back track and then follow the FM route. Treat it as an ultra. :ROFLMAO:

But then running in the dark with motorbikes though....not very fun

Got it, with more experience to pace properly.

Actually 3 days ago i ran another time but that one not so good run. Just now was proper cooling. (24 deg C)

The good thing for 2.4 or 3k is that for regular runners, it can be time trialled somewhat frequently and you will recover fast. Think Soh Rui Yong mentioned this before as well.

Same goes for running. Just not easy for unfit / unhealthy folks to lose weight esp fat through exercise. And then add in the difficulty of maintaining consistency and discipline. And also for them they are just so much easier to get injured (learning curve etc), and then need to stop.

No longer count calories like that :ROFLMAO: . .. Just whack..

When training cycle starts, sometimes even worry not enough calories to prevent burnt out. :ROFLMAO: .

But then, many runners also don't have good blood work... So not advising those who are into health to anyhow eat. Coz what you eat matters... Whole food vs process food.

Haha yeah, well, this year totally brand new route so I guess learning pain. The Bali marathon I did last year was a masterclass on how to organize a marathon.

Anyway I read that the 2 Bali marathons will be held two weekends back to back this year. I might want to try the feat of running 2 marathons within 2 weekends.
