As we grow older, is it crucial for us to train in jumping? I was a basketball player when schooling, but now can hardly jump and feel that my body has forgotten how to. I hope to relearn but dunno where to start or how to train safety or how many patterns to train. Maybe I should buy a basketball and shoes to play and train jumping?
Explositivity / fast twitch. Since you runner now do plyo. Drop jumps good for the distance you are doing. Pogo jumps (single leg best) follows a close second, then depth jumps a close third. But maybe start with single leg pogos first, since drop jump is quite a bit more advanced.
Twice a week is quite enough. Ramp it up slowly with progressive overload and then start training 4 weeks after.
If you dont want all these pattern and scared injured, single leg rope skipping more fun and is more like half plyo half endurance. Get a weighted rope from taobao and you can also hoot your upper body as well 2-in-1 , i do these occasionally to break up the monotony.
