11 Selection for BM 4 room today
out of which 9 selected TBR (all chinese) and 3 drop out.

Seriously is TBR that much better than DH ?

Why not? TBR more of quality living and better as a whole new estate. DH is all the way out with buildings popping up. But this is till up to personal preference. DH unless high lvl for view.

i disagree on the quality part...personally prefer DH...
For TBR, I rmb there were some feedback frm TB resident..here u go..for sharing.

Telok Blangah MRT station 'hard for some to get to'
Many residents have a hard time travelling between the MRT station and their homes. Some have to trek uphill, walk up or down a flight of 50 steps or walk a long way as there is no bus service that links the estate and the station. -- ST PHOTOS: JASON QUAH ST GRAPHICS

It is a case of so-near-yet-so-far for many Telok Blangah residents. The excitement of a new MRT station opening in their backyard last October has vanished after residents realised there was no bus service linking the estate and the station.

Walking to the Telok Blangah MRT station at Telok Blangah Road is one option, but residents said the hilly terrain and lack of proper pedestrian crossings make for a difficult trek, especially for the old and handicapped.

For legal secretary Karen Tng, who lives in Block 88 at the topmost section of the estate, the estimated 1km walk to the Circle Line station takes about 20 minutes, which she does only when she is not in a rush. 'It is a complete waste of time. I just avoid using the station altogether,' said Mrs Tng, 30.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang, MP for West Coast GRC, said he was aware of the requests for better connectivity from residents in the estate, which has about 40 blocks.

Adding that the new MRT station was a boon for them, he noted that most have to walk 400m, and those in blocks farther away, about 600m.

'Unfortunately, for the new precinct (which includes Block 88), it is about 800m. It is downhill going to the station, but uphill going home,' said Mr Lim, who is also Minister for Trade and Industry.

He added that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) is exploring some form of feeder service for this precinct, but 'the catchment is very small' and residents from other parts of the estate are likely to walk and not take the feeder service.

LTA confirmed that it would continue to review the bus services in 'view of upcoming developments' in the area.

For now, buses on routes 273 and 124, which ply parts of the estate, do not go to Telok Blangah Road. Instead, they head either to Chinatown or Bukit Merah.

I bet to differ Telok Blangah is better than Depot!! Simply because, I don't think many people will wanna walk uphill 20min x 2 a day just to get to the MRT station. 10min walk to MRT station is maximum acceptable for most I people I know. The Telok Blangah site is pretty deserted and bus service is really bad. If you decide not have the 20min tedious walk to MRT, you have to take a pathetic feeder bus for 1-2 stops away n still walk a total of 400m (5-7min additional walk) to the MRT. Unless there is a bus that brings directly in the estate that brings you to Telok Blangah MRT doorstep, if not it is really a bad location. HENCE, I would go for Depot instead which has bus stop (with direct buses to Orchard/Bugis/Shenton Way/Harbourfront) directly downstairs, and 6 bus-stops to Queenstown MRT doorstep.

Bus stop can be remove easily...buses can be terminated as well...

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for.
Could be price, fengshui, good view, away from direct sun, amenities, accessibility, etc

I feel that both have their pros and cons so it isn't really the case of one being better than the other. More like which one is more suitable for your needs

I agree it's best to do your own homework and choose one based on ur needs.

But 34/36 (as of date) have chosen TBR , either I'm missing something here or it's a case of monkey see monkey do ?

Prob tbr is a new project on its own, rather dh is additional 3 blocks.
Also what i believe is it has its own hakwer centre, its wet market, bigger ntuc.mrt...compared to dh, mini food courts, mini ntuc...
This could b the reason ppl choose over dh for now ba...

I've asked around the opinions of several in-the-know people.
Apparently, home buyers place a rather high importance on the resale value of their new flat. TBR area got a slightly higher resale value compared to DH which is why the flats in that BTO are priced higher but it may not be high enough to deter flat owners. This might have tipped the scale slightly in TBR's favour

there will be a new feeder bus service at the bus stop right infront of TBR. this feeder will provide service to telok blangah mrt station. and this service will be in place after march 2012. which may also tip the scale for buyer deciding TBR and DH.

Hmm the reason why I will (and I am) choose TBR is bcos I find the site more scenic and cooling, and it's so near to hilltop walk! I love nature and this really appeal me. I went over to DH site before and I didnt really like it cos it's nearer to industrial area.. I went over to DH site before and I didnt really like it cos it's nearer to industrial area.. As for the feeder bus service, now there is no feeder bus to TB MRT stn doesnt mean that it will NOT have in future. I do think that eventually there will be, afterall we are looking at 3-4 years from now.

During day, the sea is cooler and when wind blow the cool air from the sea inland, you will feel telok blangah area is quite cooling.

But I went there one night and found the area surprisingly warm. Then I realised that at night, the sea releases the heat it absorbed throughout the day and thus the wind direction will be changed. No more cooling breeze

Hi I went there during night time leh =P the wind comes from TB Hill park there I think.. as long as your floor is higher than existing flat it should be quite OK? I love TBR for its greenary all around. =D
You will also be choosong units from TBR? hehe seems like not many is interested in DH leh, jialat. My selection date is still 2 weeks away lo. hopefully still have high floors.....

ok just to share this as i heard this from my good friend:

her ex boyfriend lives near mount faber i think is telok blangah cresent and somtimes there are bats flying into his kitchen

so i guess this will happen to TBR too? since it is so near to TBHP? i hope not!
