Anyone try this knife sharper?

In theory will work.... after all sharpening is about removing steel from the knife edge.... but I find the whole concept kinda waste time... it is after all a system to make you buy into it.. eventually the abrasive is gonna wear off and you had to buy back from the same seller to work in the system.

Whereas if you learn to sharpen on whetstones... you can choose any quality or price of whetstones to sharpen your knives and they probably last a lot longer than the system...

Upfront, I don't own a Horl knife sharpener.

That being said, it seems like the sharpening kit was designed to reduce the time required for practicing on whetstones, as well as adding more consistency to sharpening.

The blade sharpening system you choose is only half the equation. The other half is being able to check on your progress and results. You don't want to stop sharpening prematurely and walk away with a dull edge, nor do you want to constantly sharpen and unnecessarily remove material.

As long as you maintain consistency with your sharpening equipment setup for the same set of knives, most sharpeners will serve you well. (Except those pull through knife sharpeners that scrapes metal off the edge. Those are the worst.)

Good quality diamond stones should last you a very long time when used correctly. (Using light pressure when sharpening, and keeping them clean with the occasional scrub down using an old toothbrush)

With blade sharpening, the key underlying factor for success will always be consistency.

Anyone knows where got knife sharpening service? I've got a few kitchen knives $100-200, I've tried those DIY stones and those that you roll the knife in-between the rollers. Nothing seems to sharpened the knife to it's original sharpness when new. The stones need some kind of skills and patience to sharpen but I've neither

屠龙刀 need to find 倚天剑 then can sharpen. I know a old nun that owns that sword, you can try to borrow from her.

I've bought at least 4 types of sharpeners, dun really work. I might be using incorrectly but all 4 the same results.
I always see on YT those sushi chefs or butchers slice the fish meat or meat so effortlessly and clean cut.

After sharpening you must know how to test the knives for sharpness

Use tomato and a piece of paper for testing

Wah lol will totally destroy any good knifes
typically 10 strokes on a whetstone is enough to resharpen an unsharpened edge. but those knives she handle are very abused, perhaps made of stainless steel for chopping $1k worth of frozen pork with bones daily. it's more efficient to use a 1000 grit grinder and polish the edge all the way. using hand, this can take half a day. so don't play play. sharpening knives for a living isn't possible without a grinder

Err you mean the butchers and their clivers? I am under impression ts is not a butcher right, ts?

Butchers will sharpen their knives many times over in a day and will not be posting such question in the forum I am guessing, right?
