Use booking.com and agoda.com.

Penang is good for food and walking too. The streets are more pedestrian friendly than KL. Imo it has a lot of interesting places as well. Only it has lesser malls to shop and cool down.
Actually with the train, even before this JB to KL ETS hooha, there are people who took the train KL then Ipoh then Penang. Interesting too.

Both heritage buildings at Merdeka Square have been reopened. The distinctive GPO and Sultan Abu Samad Building have been restored and now feature cafes, galleries and exhibition spaces.

I keep a watchful eye on my luggage wherever I place them, whether it is a bus or a train, especially when there is a disembarkation stop coming up. You can deter theft by tying your piece to the shelf.

There are instances that require your luggage to be stowed under the passenger compartment of the coach, out of sight. If you want to be very careful, you can select window seats on the side the compartment is opened just so that you can keep a lookout when passengers drop-off before your destination and take off with your luggage. The list of precautions goes on...

KL is my favourite city to visit at a whim..

I agree with beanstalk's description of KL and personally both my spouse and me prefer KL over BKK/HCM.. While I do get bored of eating Thai/Viet food for the whole week, I wont get bored of eating at KL since the food is quite similar to SG. The vibe/energy at KL is quite different from SG.

Try it once for the experience.. twosix has provided another way to bring down the airticket price.
Or you can even consider ETS or take a coach up.. If taking coach, do avoid major holidays in Malaysia to avoid being stuck in the toll..

I've nvr been to kl, so thinking of flying over with family since tickets to a lot of other countries are expensive. But not sure what to do in kl also...
My personal preference is to go Bangkok because i like walking. For some weird reason, I find Bangkok to be more walkable than KL. But for this weekend, I am going to KL because I find that airline tickets to Bangkok are way out of my reach.

Do you guys think walking tours in KL are worth it? I found this highly-rated "Free Walk KL Unscripted" but the "tips" per pax is RM50.

I also find Bangkok to be better for walking, because central Bangkok has many residential areas mingled with commercial areas. There are also canals and Bangkok has a longer history than KL. How long is the walk? RM50 sounds reasonable.

When I was younger, I would also prefer holidays at BKK over KL.
BKK does have better walking areas than KL for sure. More varied scenes, more enticing street food as well. However, nowadays with kids, I find the walking in BKK to be rather tiring.
KL used to be more walkable However ever since the Bukit Bintang stretch seems to be forever under construction, I feel it is no longer enjoyable to walk in the main area.

If you are unfamiliar with KL, I think it is quite ok to join the tour. I dont really do any sightseeing when i visit KL..

Its this company: https://freewalkkualalumpurunscripted.com/

Its about 2 hours or so.

For context , I have attended Singapore walking tours with similar arrangements and it's about $20.

I booked my trips rotating among kl, bkk and HCMC. No need to choose one only. My upcoming trips continue to rotate among these 3 places, with less trips to BKK as it is comparatively more expensive for my spending habit.

I only fly to KL after I took my first firefly flight to KL. I am willing to pay more on transport to save time.

Actually, since I am taking a bus tonight to KL, it may make more sense to switch from large backpack to trolley luggage. Especially at customs, whrn i have to take my luggage down. I wouldn't want anyone to tamper it .

I realise for ETS to KL, those with big luggage would have to put their luggage at the baggage storage area behind the seats. That means anyone can help themselves right?
Will you be bringing backpack or trolley luggage? My preference is always to use backpack but for this trip, I may change to trolley luggage instead

So it has come to a state where coaches either terminate at TBS or Lalaport BBCC. I want to see if those companies currently using Berjaya Times Square will comply with the directive to move to Lalaport, which is just 5 min walk away from Berjaya Times Square. Aeroline does not convince me why they reject Lalaport when TRX is acceptable to them. The 2 developments are only 8 min drive apart or 10 min walk? I can only guess that Aeroline wants to be seen as premium, and above the other operators at Lalaport.

So now it seems they only go Penang? It’s sad as they provide the best bus service to KL.

For booking ETS fm JB Sentral to KL, when choosing seats, as long as we see the word forward on the top of the app, it means the seats are facing the train travelling forward direction right? Coz seating opposite direction gives me terrible headache.

No headache, the seats are rotatable, end of each journey staff change the seats facing.

There is an arrangement now with which the Aeroline coach will bring you to a place to transfer to a shuttle bus that will bring you to TRX. In the reverse direction, passengers have to be 15min early at TRX, and a shuttle bus will transfer passengers to the Aeroline coach for the journey to Singapore.

No word anywhere to say if this is a permanent arrangement and where the transfer takes place.
