For those applications u want multi core + lots of RAM and a poor mans multicore: enter the x3 Toliman :p Poor man multicore cum low power config:

x3 8650 + Palit 780G = $268 (Video pro)
Asus TA-M11 + CM 460 = $119
Hitachi 250GB = $66
2 x 2 GB ddr2 800 Kingston = $64
Palit HD4670 Super = $132
Samsung SATA DVDRW = $36
$671 after 2% cash discount

Need advice on building PC

Hello. Currently this is the system and components I am using.

Mainboard : Gigabyte 8I945GME
Chipset : Intel i945G/GZ
Processor : Intel Pentium 4 524 @ 3066 MHz
Physical Memory : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family
Hard Disk : HDS728080PLA380 (82 GB)
Hard Disk : Hitachi (320 GB)
DVD-Rom Drive : TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182F ATA Device
Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RTL8169 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
Operating System : Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium Home Edition 6.00.6001 Service Pack 1
DirectX : Version 10.00

I am intending to upgrade to a Core 2 duo PC with dedicated Video care. But what I want to keep from this computer is my 2 hard disks, DVD-ROM drive and 2GB Ram. Is it possible for this to be done at Sim Lim and how should I convey the requirements? Also when I shift the two hard disk over, must my Windows Vista be re-installed? Currently, all the WINDOWS files are in the 82GB hard disk while my personal files are in the 320GB one.

Thanks for any help in advance. =)

Ok since u have Intel preference this is what i would do:

E5200 + Biostar G31 = $179 (Tradepac)
Palit HD4670 Super = $129
Now with 1 IDE port u can run max 2 IDE/PATA devices so i would think your IDE DVDRW is expendable?
Get a SATA DVDRW - nowadays $34 can get one already!
Yes best if you reinstall Vista and if i were u i'd resell those 2 x 1GB and hoot 2 x 2 gb hehe

Thanks for the quick reply. So do I need to bring down my current PC to the store to let them transfer everything over for me or is this easy to do by myself at home?

Sorry. Forgot to add: Is it okay if I chose a core 2 duo processor instead of a dual core one?

I'll be using it for normal word processing and intensive video viewing and a little bit of photo editing. Budget I'm trying to keep it under $500. Should I bring my current PC down to allow the sales staff to do the necessary transfer or can I just dismantle what I already have and re-install it into the new CPU?

Hmm depends if you comfy with installing on your own? Ok how about:

E7300 + Biostar TP43D2A7 = $301 (Bizgram)
Palit HD4670 Super = $129
Samsung SATA DVDRW = $34 (Video Pro)
$464
Reuse your PSU as forumites have reported that GPU running fine in god forsaken 250W PSUs hehe

More specify about this hang issue ? I'm not a expert on gamer but memory is essential for gamer PC, check your ram is sufficient or working properly may help.

It happens on two occasion while i was playing company of heros for abt 1 hr , and happens all the times when i was playing combat arms for about half an hour , the screen will just hang and i have to force restart my com , but if it hangs and resume back , all the graphic texture or colour will change .

When PC boot up press Del key and u see a blue screen - go to harware health and see your temps. Hmm if Acbel e2 470 should be ok for 9800GT but if 430 u may be underpowered to run it
