azu-san aiming to be a conference interpreter?
jia you!
heard its quite hard.

woo... conference interpreter in the makings...
u can do it! jia you!

Was just thinking about it for fun, if my skills do eventually approach that level.

There are no interpreting training schools even in nearby countries, tough luck, although larger countries will have, nearest country that has such schools is Hong Kong, if I don't remember wrongly. Don't have a degree, so have to choose and acquire a specialist skill as a basis for translation and interpreting, and build a glossary of technical terms later...

Very niche field..

check the website for rough schedules (normally not updated as fast as the sign ups),
call and confirm + book
pay within 1 week

Can register anytime. But will only hold your place for 1, 2 day if you have not paid yet. When you are a regular student, then maybe hold your place without payment for 3, 4 days...

They will close registration in as early as 1 week before class starts to confirm enrollment & complete paperwork. Like example new class starts Dec 7, they may close entries before Dec 1.

Note that even if you walk in or call in on Nov 29, there may not be places for you as all places may already be filled up.

http://www.bunkalang.com/courses_schedules.shtml

Notes for your new Ele1 signup:

- There are already very few Nov classes, if not 1 or 2 late Nov ones, most available dates are in Dec.

- There are no more weekend classes at the moment.

- Weekend classes are more in demand, especially those afternoon ones, since most of the time these timeslots are taken up 1-1.5months in advance.

- Do not expect to walk in 1-2weeks [ before the date that you want ] to register and expect places still available. Frequently, Ele level classes get filled up very quickly.

- It's easier to talk to them directly, than to call them. Peak periods are late afternoons till after 1830hrs, when all the classes start at the time, that's when they have less desk enquiries to attend to and more time to take calls.

- If you really must call, call during weekdays. Forget about calling on Sat and Sun...

- Reality is they will attend to desk enquiries first, phone calls later, if they are really tied up.
It's not that your phone call is not important, but obviously a walk-in customer may pay on the spot, but a person on the phone cannot.

- Classes get taken up FASTER during school holidays.

P.S. You sound like you are not confident of going there by yourself, or do you need someone to accompany you there ? I will be going there next wed to make payment.
