Self-inflicted wet hands is user problem for sure. But as pointed out previously, what if the user has a natural sweaty palm? 'Moisturising' the laptop with such sweaty hands is inevitable.

There is also a significant portion of Alienware owners who may not be willing to replace their laptops that soon, who could have saved many months to afford their Alienware laptops, given how pricey they are. As a owner of every product you use, you will certainly appreciate that the product last you very long, which correlates to its product quality. With the aim of providing high solid quality product, i don't think they will want to mar user experience with such a careless flaw which can potentially drive them away to other competing laptop brands.

Silicone port covers also won't exist on the market if users do not care about their own laptops. Since such product exists, there means a demand for it and this shows that people do care to protect their expensive gadgets. This is very same for expensive smartphone owners, to protect their beloved Gorilla Glass screen and chassis with yet expensive, great quality Spigen screen protectors and external cases.

With a strong gaming branding and reputation at stake, and a lucrative business with high profits margin ahead, they won't want to lose business do they?

That is up to the consumer if they want to protect these ports and their beloved laptop. The only reason why manufacturer will cover them is for waterproofing. eg. Sony Xperia series. Even CD trays are removed and all that is left is a huge gaping slot.

I get where you are coming from, but no manufacturer will do it. They can sell the silicone port covers as an optional add on just like how some phone manufacturers sell their phone covers though.

The main selling point of the Alienware laptop is high performance gaming. They wont want to add all these covers/flaps which will ruin the gaming look in any case.

yup aiming for that if cannot get xps or alienware. but must see the next round how. :s13: if cannot get that, then will get the 24" monitor.

if u next round again get alot of bonus points again, then i should be 4th position liao. :s13:

no more next round of bonus pts cos by next week everyone would have redeem their prize except for the 1st and 2nd prize so the bonus pts kinda redundant unless admins decide to give it mid week.

There is an option to add touchscreen to Alienware laptop and together with Graphics Amplifier will give you the ultimate gaming experience. You can get 120fps as shown in Tomb Raider demo.
"The Alienware 17 is available with Full HD display, or you can choose Full HD display with a touch screen option. Optional touch technology with TrueLife high-gloss display brings you closer to the action."

I think you are referring to the Alienware 17 R2. I have checked the Alienware R3 series and seems like its not touch supported. There isnt any option to change too.

Why do the video put up to gtx980, but alienware website do not allow for this selection? Typo or a new option is coming soon? It could be the first gtx980 laptop in Singapore, wonder how it will cost?

I also see alienware 17 has the option of selecting 6820hk i7, that is the first overclocking mobile i7! Dell states it can dynamically overclock to 4.1ghz. But we can use Intel xtu software to further the overclock in Windows! This is fun that laptop users can join in the silicon lottery and will push alienware cooling qualities to its max!

Maybe is typo. Should be GTX 980M

The Alienware Graphics Amplifier then can use the GTX980 graphic card.

Dell has done a very good job with Alienware Graphics Amplifier. Quite useful if you want the best gaming experience. Too bad Alienware laptops do not have Intel® RealSense™ 3D Camera and can't use Windows 10 Hello.

There is room for Dell to improve their Alienware Grahpics Amplifier, at least to make it smaller and smaller, so that easy to bring it out .

may be next coming model Dell will include this Intel Realsense Technology to make use Wondows 10 Hello.

must see the price and the release date of the dell alienware laptop. ytd someone showed a link that showed nvidia made the desktop 980 into the size of a laptop 980?

so got chance is the desktop 980 version. but if is the early 2015 alienware, then should be typo.

edit: yeah i think is typo. i think so far dont have a laptop on the market with gtx 980. still in progress only.

The Area-51 is very expensive, maybe Dell thinks buyers wants Office 2016 and the McAfee antivirus. They should let buyers upgrade the SSD and wireless. But does the Alienware 17 R3 have options to upgrade than the Area-51?

For most students, Office 2016 comes free. Don't have to fork out extra $ to buy.

Just type in school email, if you are eligible you will receive email to sign up. Local Poly email should work. Tertiary should be ok too, as long as its not alumni email of course. :vijayadmin:

I think a lot of people don't know about this good lobang so might as well post it here to raise awareness. Can spend the extra $ on choosing better option upgrading your Alienware laptop. :s13:
