Coz that's the nature of the game when only 2 of u are left in the competition. Like the previous Samsung contest, trust me, both of u will run out of things to say the moment u start agreeing with each other on currently discussed issues. So to clock maximum points (and allow for bonus points), both of u have no choice but to take sides on issues raised, so that discussion can be generated, rather than spiralling down to a 'agree with Dell' or 'disagree with Dell' monologue.

The problem is he is misreading what we are typing. :s22:

I personally think random bonus points giveaway will be much more fun and will induce members into heavier discussion since we wont know when coming mah. :s12:

So you guys prefer to not know when the bonus points are added? We thought that might be better as it is more transparent.

For XPS13, what do you think about the cooling system?

Based on experience, boss is always worried that thin notebooks have a tendency to overheat.

As in passive cooling (fanless cooling) or active cooling for thin notebooks?

The best example of thermal throttling is the recently-launched MacBook using the Core-M processor and passively cooled.

End of today you can redeem liao. Dont need to post quality post to redeem it
That doesn't mean i need to be that 现实 and stop posting since i can already comfortably collect my Alpha right? Boss also don't encourage that what, lest nobody comes in for discussion. I really don't know what you are thinking. Post or don't post also seem to be an issue. :s22:

I think there is one last feature awkwardly overlooked by everyone, including me, that is also another main selling point of Dell XPS 13 - Corning Gorilla Glass NBT

Having Corning Gorilla Glass NBT over conventional soda lime glass, it not only is more resistance to scratches like all Gorilla series glasses are renowned for, it also reduces flaw visibility and have better retaining strength to counteract any blemish forming on screen.

So ladies and gentlemen with long fingernails, specially those ladies with their long nail art manicure, no longer have to worry their sharp nails from scratching the glass surface with such toughness and durability. Even if a deep scratch forms users also need not worry about potential breaking of screen having the deep scratch as point of weakness.

Too bad despite having all these scratch preventing properties, Corning Gorilla glasses are (still) never made to breakage-resistant. I was already made aware of this since with my original Samsung Galaxy S (1st version) in 2010 for being the first Galaxy phone to comes with Gorilla glass. But there are many oblivious users to think that Gorilla glasses won't break and many friends also fault phone manufacturers for misleading claim. :s22:

With newer iteration of reinforced Gorilla glass, they are lesser prone to breakage, but by means still not resistant to it.

Another thing to take note is that this Corning Gorilla Glass NBT also DOES NOT comes with oleophobic coating, i.e. resistant to fingerprint (from to bodily oil). So please do not blame Corning and Dell for seeing oily fingerprint smudge on your screen. Corning Gorilla Glass is tough but does not mean it is a bao ka liao (all rounder) glass. :s22:

Most oleo phobic coating will wear off over time anyway if you use it often. I use those glass protector which promises oleo phobic coat but after a few months it's full of fingerprints.

IPhone drop 1 time sure shatter. It uses corning glass too.

I think you did mention about using glass for the track pad. It may be not a great idea I feel as it will be hard to drag your finger to accurately pinpoint the location that you want. Too smooth also not good. I prefer some friction at least.

I like the fact that Dell XPS 13 is able to squeeze in a single fan for active cooling despite its record thin profile, but it also seemingly to be heavily inspired from MBA.. :s22:

Actually most of those who joined this Dell contest are that 现实. After claim prize, then run back to EDMW, wait for HWZ to prop out another rewards campaign then come back here clock posts then run away. Which was y I didn't really wanna join back when it started coz how many actually stay back and contribute to this thread or even HWC when there are no prizes as incentives?

Anyway, just a suggestion to Boss, for future rewards campaigns, perhaps can also mirror it in EDMW forum also? Participation will increase and it will draw the appropriate response from forumers, but maybe the prizes need to distribute accordingly. Or even create a special forum (like the IT Show subforums) for these special events?

Well at the very least it should not be disclosed for the past week I guess. I can type lots of quality post and post everything at 2.55pm leaving no chance for my competitor to post anything.

That's why I said I prefer consistency. This whole campaign is all mind games and strategy.

I feel the reason why people tend to think it will overheat maybe due to the the fact that components hardly have space from themselves, let alone space remaining to include sufficient amount of heatsink and fan to cool it down adequately. People also forget the fact that Intel processors used inside are no longer their mainstream, power hungry and heaty 23-35W TDP SKUs. These U series chips don't produce that much heat and hence still has the capability to be cooled down efficient enough using small fan.

How is my tone hostile? :s22:

I'm not too sure if you are being paranoid. Just to made clear to you that i don't feel anything to you. :)

Probably i am puzzled with the need to talk about trivial features such as antivirus and SD card reader. :s22:

Giving others more things to talk about. I'm just sharing. At least they can consider my advice even though they don't own a XPS 13.

Thats why I bring in things about Office for Education, Onedrive, AV etc.

I find passive cooling is just a marketing gimmick for manufacturers to save cost. So what if u can slim the chassis down by another 2-3mm but the laptop feels warm (or hot) to the touch when carrying it around while it's on, coz the chassis itself is engaged in heat dissipation?

That's why usually we get a separate fan. :s22:

Ironically the first version of corning gorilla glass on my Galaxy S 1 didn't leave a single hairline nor shatter from all the falls encountered (about 10+ times already no joke).

About the oleophobic coating, i'm not too sure. Maybe screen protector manufacturer use inferior oleophobic coating that don't last as long?

With regards to the glass touchpad, i actually tried it once on MacBook it feels rather delicate. It is smooth but not up to the point of losing friction. The oil on our fingernails help assist in making it smoother. Fingerprint oil also can be easily removed and does not leave permanent stain unlike those conventional ones.
